Prosecuting our soldiers?

This is how the war was fought when our leaders had balls.

I don't think they should have been on trial to begin with..

I'm late to this conversation, but it was the SEALs, being men of honor, that pushed the court martial rather than accepting an official admonishment in their records.

I think two of the three have been cleared now and the push is on to just drop the charges on the third. It does bring a new twist to "take no prisoners" though.

So here's my side: military....6 years of duty in the Middle East....SSG (NCO) ...Military Policeman and just got Back from Crakistan.

ROE ( rules of engagement) is completly F'd up and my guys were wounded or killed because of it.

My truck gunner is still over there because he killed an Iman (priest) in his car because he posed a threat on the road...now he has to go to a Court Marshal because the higher up's feel he violated the ROE...we that were there know it's BS and he'll probably walk, because he did the right thing, we know it and the officers know it, but because this was a high profile guy, all T's must be crossed and i's dotted.
If I feel justified in what I did and an officer that's sits at a desk and never goes outside the wire feels the need to give me an ART 15 or CAPT's Mast (for u navy guys)...I'll take a Court Marshal anyday of the week.....AS an NCO, my jury would be fellow NCO's that have been there.. done that. The military is and has always been guilty and you must prove your innocence. (fellow vets would probably know what I mean).
So in the mean time while you await your trail your put on restricted duty and get the SH** details. Funny thing is, when you do get cleared the people that treated you like crap, after it's all said and done, want to shake your hand and pat you on the back...and sometimes you get a medal for what you did. ( I only say this from previous experience.) It does not matter if Clinton, Bush or Obama is in office, it will never change and will continue to happen.

Well that's my .02 cents....spend it wisely.

....killed American civilian contractors and hung their bodies from a bridge.

One of those guys was named Battalona and was from the same unit that I served in, albeit from different eras.

My boat is named Sue Sponte in honor of the 75th Airborne Ranger Regiment. The crest in my avatar and on the hull of my boat is the Regimental crest worn on the shoulders of every Ranger serving in the Regiment. Sua Sponte is the latin motto of the 75th Ranger Regiment. It translates into Of their own accord.

So, touchy subject for me....

The trial never should have happened.

One of the allegations from the accuser was that the SEALs called his family names and insulted his mother....in English. The accused speaks no English.

WTF?

It is pretty sad when the enemy can testify against you, what the hell do they think they are going to say! When do we get to put those bastards on trial, my son said one of the troops went missing and thought he was captured, they started to search for him they only found pieces of him where a I E D went off. Where is the out cry from all the Human Rights people. I stand by my post # 61& 66 maybe add some reporters to that also!:smt013
