Official 510 DA Owners Group

The C-12's are basically the next iteration of the 3196. I am guessing that those are replacement motors, not the originals? Good engines.

It annoys me the scant number of 110 volt outlets SeaRay wired inot the galley. Was bad on my 400DA; really bad on the 510. Decided to add three plugs over buy the stove top, against the bulk head wall by the refrigerator.

I got all the plugs, plug frame, circuit box and gold cover from Marine Max. Guess I could have got it cheaper other places but one stop shopping has its advantages, like not misplacing half the stuff waiting for other pieces and parts. Anyway, wired up the plugs in the box, cut the hole and plugged it into the same plug used to power up the microwave.

Excellent...you must have a blender & margarita machine !! Headed your way !

Hello, Thought I would bring this thread back from the depths. We acquired our 2000 510 in September and managed to log as much time as possible before the dreaded layup. To say I love this boat is an understatement. I have have a laundry list of things to do over the winter to which I will share with this group. One of my projects involves accessing behind the headliner above the galley and I was wondering if anyone has tips for getting the headliner down? Thanks

I agree on the boat being great and all, but what's wrong that you feel compelled to take down the head liner?

Good question, I want to access the center bow hand hold rails to rebed them.

I'm headed to the boat tomorrow; gonna do a bit of looking on how I'ld do it. My boat is a 2001 but I'm thinking the process would be similar.
A few months back I was looking to refinish the over head air registers (black bits of depleted insulation was blowing out. Thankfully that issue subsided). After a great deal of constination I backed off.
I'll let you know should I have some brilliant thought on how to get it done.

Speaking of hand hold rails; the question comes to mind, what hand rails.
I don't recall any hand hold rails. Be handy if you had a photo or two.

On a side bar; dose your boat still have the boat bell mount on the right side of the entry door? Removed mine and I am in the process of mounting it to the starboard side of the radar arch just behind the captains chair.

I’m referring the short rails outside of where the sunpad goes. Can’t imagine mine are custom. Not a great picture but I highlighted the short rail in red. I wanted to access these from below.

Interesting; I don't have one of those.

I'ld do some measuring and make double sure the attachment hardware wasn't hidden in the compartment just under the wind screen instead of above the salon ceiling.

I’m at my boat and can now visualize what it is your trying to do. My advise; if the ceiling ain’t messed up then leave it be. The hand rails I think you are referring to are the base attachment points for the wind screen and hard top. Least that’s the only thing on my boat that resembles a hand hold fixture. I would unscrew the mounting screws; then repair and structure so new hard ware could be installed. Might be a little fiberglass doings. Just depends on how things look when that railing is removed. Another option would be to secure the railing with expandable base fixtures. Pretty much like a molly bolt except use stainless steel.

Anyway; that’s what I’m thinking as I’m looking up at my boats salon ceiling. Just ain’t no way I would be taking that apart.
Good luck

Not sure what happened on the SeaRay site but this one just came in. So it's the rails by the sun pad; got it.
Still thinking the best way to address the mounting points is to insure the fiberglass is strong enough to hold the instillation of the rails.

Moved my boat to a new mooring. In the effort to hook up power I ran across an issue witH the shore power pedisal, had to use the 120 volt power. Plugged in and got a reverse polarization light, system would not let me put the 120 volt power to the boat. Had the shore power checked; ok. Started running wires to see what could have gotten crossed. Some 510 DA boats have an ac converter wired between the shore power circuit breaker and the ac power distribution panel in the salon. My question to SeaRay was if there was some sort of reverse polarity protection switching device. My boat is a straight wire from the stern to the ac distribution pannel. Finally got to the three pole breaker on the salon panel. Continuity was great till I through the breaker then i got continuity across all three poles. Not sure how that happens but that's how it is.

Moral of the story; should you have a reverse polarity light make sure you check the main AC breakers right off the bat.

So I was poking around YouTube and found the elusive three stateroom floor plan of the Early 2000’s 510. It is badged a 555 but thinking that is a European thing.
This is the first time I have actually seen this layout.

Wow never seen this layout ever. I looked at a lot of them over the years. Was this a European only thing?

I really like this floor plan

Took the Linda Jean for a run today. Everything pretty much worked. Well everything except the starboard analog oil pressure indicator, the one that's part of the larger instrument cluster. Anyone have any information on this bad boy. The digital reading on the Catapiler monitoring system works fine. Just hate having a dead instrument at the helm.
