Official 510 DA Owners Group

New owner of a 2002 510DA! Love the boat and can't wait to get more time on her.

Great info here, especially the drop tab stuff. The visibility on plane isn't the best. Definitely have to look into those.

Love the boat so far!

Next step: New marine electronics and entertainment systems

If you have moved or replaced the salon TV, post pics! I'd love to get some ideas.

Just finished mounting a new tv. Took the hideaway doors off and got the biggest tv that would fill the hole. The vertical measurement is the limiting factor there. Fashioned a couple 2/4s for a swing out swivel mount for the tv. Figured that would give me some versatility. Then I tacked some trim pices in around the mount, pained the whole deal flat black so as to hide the hard wear. I'll grab some pictures if you like but roaming through the Internet you'll see where several 510s have a similar set up.

Drop down fins are worth the time and money. Read a review on the 510 and one of the issues it mentioned was the nose high deck angle on other Sundancers and how the 510 was better/lower. Made for better cruse performance and fuel effecncy so on and so forth. In my experience the drop downs give the boat just the right deck angle. Makes me wonder why SeaRay didn't incorporate this modification from the get go.

The above is the tab discussing mods myself and others have done. Of course all these were applied to smaller boats but idea would be the same. Haven't heard a negative regarding results yet. It's good that the 510 has a lower deck angle to start with so installing Bennett drop fins or having some fabricated should give you ample result.

Hi everyone,

We haven't heard much On here lately and wanted to say that having our beautiful boat in the water since April 7th and being able to use it as our zombie apocalypse getaway in my floating office has been really amazing. We've had a couple really nice days and can't wait for the Memorial Day holiday. Those 14 1/2 inch drop tab fins I modeled after Bennets's and fabricated are superb. OK, another picture and see you guys on the water.

I have, what I am sure is the original, Bose Lifestyle system in the boat. Seems to work OK in the salon, having a slight issue with the surround speakers, but I'll figure that out.

My big problem is the speakers in the master are stuck in full blast. The remote powers them on and can change the source, but the volume does not work.

Any suggestions?

My Bose system worked for a few weeks after I took the boat over. The the remotes stoped so on and so forth. There is a cottage industry getting these units over hauled.
Myboserepair.com is one place. They will chat with you about what ever problem you have.
Can also get repair service off of e-bay.
I had to change the master state room unit. Found replacement on eBay.

Yes, I have some issues as well. Not sure how I get certain speakers to work and shut others down. This year is the first full season with the boat, and this weekend is our official start. Will really get into configuration in the coming weeks. If I find anything profound, I'll post it.

A lot of the Bose repair places are up dating the unit to Bluetooth. All well and good but I didn't want additional stuff in the original Bose box so I bought a Bluetooth receiver antinna and plugged it into the aux jack. Works great
As far as the speakers working intermittently and or not being able to control them; myboserepair.com are the guys you need to talk to. Use them or not, they will tell you the alternatives in getting your system up and running.

Got that pesky little rudder indicator operational. What a pain.

The original indicator sending unit located on the port side, under the Swimplatform pump, went bad. Original units are just plan ass not not to be had. The replacements are mostly the same China hunk of crap (went through two of them; they were bad right out of the box). You can buy the units for upwards of $100 or $20. They are all the same. Anyway, finally got my hands on a good one and replaced the darned thing while laying on the battery bank, reaching around wiring and BS but got it done. Here's what I did
1. Replaced the star board under the old unit.
2. Replacement mounting board was cut from 3/4 inch star board. Had to be a tad bigger because the new unit has a different stance and arm reach
3. Had to modify the arm that came with the new unit so it would accept the ball unit from the old sending unit. Ground down the out side so the little receiver ball could mount on the end of the arm
4. Got the rudder at center, marked the placement where the sending unit indicated center on the guage. In my case that meant the arm is fully extended. Ended up bending the arm to port just a tad to keep it on center.
5. Secured the unit in place. Thats the bitch of it all. Pain in the butt positioning yourself with tools and what knot

I had to replace the rear amplifier and both the remote hand controllers. Had the main lifestyle unit rebuilt via one of the eBay venders.

Has anyone had to replace their old Halon fire extinguisher? Mine is a Sea Fire 1000 cubic foot model.

Sea Fire has FM200 models, but they are taller. Also, I guess they bolted and epoxied the bracket to the bulkhead, that thing won't budge!

FYI: The replacements aren't cheap!

Any suggestions?

Had mine checked. Passed except for the auto engine shut off cut out. Meaning it will fire off when it should but if I so chose I can crank the engines up even with the extinguisher material discharged in the engine bay. Guess that a good and bad kind of thing.

Unfortunately mine was empty and from what I learned you can’t refill Halon.

I'm sure you can find a tank that's close in size. Maybe even another company that is compatible.

Yes, it is possible to switch vendors, but then the manual pull and electronics would need to be changed. Sticking with Seafire avoids that headache.

Last day trip the windless died. Man those things are hard to run down what with the lofrans being Italian and all. Expensive as well. Takes upwards of 6 weeks to get one in hand. Got the one on the boat to at least pull the anchor up. That took some red neck engineering, of which I'm kind of proud. ( previous owner obviously serviced the unit because when I took her apart the outer/ top bushing was missing. I'm betting it politely rolled off the boat while the dude was servicing. Bummer; just slaps it back togeather. Just a matter of time for the aluminum top drum to rip out and that's what happened. I tried sourcing parts but that ain't gonna happen. They stopped sporting these Progress 2 units in 2004. Parts are few and fare between. At this point it's better to replace)

Anyway;found Anchorlift unit out of Coral Gable Florida. Bigger unit at a reasonable price. Reviews are ok but at least I'll have it for Blues Angels show in pensicola florida.

I assume you'll have to drill new mounting screw holes, but, will you have to mess with cutting any larger openings to accommodate? I've never really looked at how they're installed... Glad to know you found something though.

Anyone know how I can increase the hot water pressure? Cold is good, but, hot is much slower.

Walter

Sounds like a restriction in the hot water plumbing. I'm thinking hot water heater it self. Is this the original unit.
