Official 510 DA Owners Group

Just inspected my new Anchor Lift windless. Impressive piece of kit. Appears to be manufactured well and the 304 stainless is machined to a high standard. Now it's just a matter of getting the old one off and slapping the new one on. All while hanging upside down in the chain locker. What could go wrong?

Well the Anchor lift I got ain't the one I need. Sent it back to vendor (that's a whole differ at pain in the butt )
Got with AnchorLift Direct. Talked with Mr Lynch the owner. Seems like a straight shooter. Ordered the kit that is suppose to be plug and play (never happen but hope springs eternal and all that). Now it's wait and see how the correct windless fits

This is what top drum of my Lofrans windless looked like. Indicates shock loading damage but that was caused by the previous owner not installing the upper clutch bushing. I put a red neck repair that has allowed me to at least retrieve the anchor. JB weld and cutting down the profile on the drum to bolster the inner shaft and allow the drive key to get higher in the drum. It worked. Have to release manually. Kind of a pain not being able to feed the rod out from the captains chair. The motor is toast, only works in one direction now so tomorrow, weather permitting, the prosess of replacing the old with the new AnchorLift Windless unit begins
Just a few photos to give the visual.

Bummer, system will not let me up load picture. I was kind of proud of that Jerry rigged set up too.

This is the message I get when up loading a picture

The up loaded file dose not have the allowed extension

What the hell is that

Got the Lofrans windless off the boat. What at adventure, diving butt deep in the anchor locker. Would provide photos but still having issues with the allowable extension.

Got it working.
First photo shows the rip, shock load, on the shaft. Direct product of not having the upper bushing in place.

Second photo is the repair I did to the drum. It worked but the motor only worked on the up mode. I had 1/2 inch of the drum base cut off so the center shaft and keyway would be in fresh undamaged metal. The anchor had to be dropped manually. It worked for the time I had to use it.

New AnchorLift windless is in. Man, that was a job. Especially in 100 plus degree heat.
Also adding a heavier anchor. Stepping up to a 70 lb plow. That with my full chain rod should hold her in place a bit better.

Anybody know if the main state room indirect lights is powered by switches on both starboard and port sides of the bed pedisal
The port side switch works; starboard dose nothing. Not sure what the plan was on these lights.

I have been noting several issues with the Cruisair SMX II control panel. Well that and folks not flushing the water supply to the compressors.
Ran across this helpful trouble shooting guide.

I'm Johnny ....New to this site and page....Thanks for putting it together ! I'm at Grand Lake Of The Cherokees in Northeast Oklahoma.
It's a smaller version of Lake Of The Ozarks. I've owned this 2000 510 for 7 years and I bought it from the original owner.

Johnny,

Welcome to the chat. I've learned a lot. Hope I've contributed as well. All good stuff here between this and other complimentary group pages.

Cheers,

Walter

I got hooked with a great guy...bought a SMX keypad from him on Ebay & works great...Rick Bertolani, Marine air of Central Florida...321.205.5477...he walked me through diagnosis, etc

When I bought my 510 the horn compressor had been removed/is missing. Previous owner told me it went bad and was removed and he installed "train horns" that have been removed, since I'm more of a purist !
Can anyone give me a brand/part number for the "original" horn compressor that bolts to the aft side of the engine room bulkhead ?

SeaRay #1266451: horn, compressor Kahlenberg 24 Volt
SeaRay #1368711: horn, tank Kahlenberg

I applaud your fadelity to the OEM concept. Kahlenberg components are readily available. That being said, you might find it easer to source and retro fit a 12 volt system.

Good luck.

My son was cleaning the ac filters/separators and could not get the saloon ac to come on. At first it would not stay on, the control head flickering and the ac units would go on and off. Today I went down and discovered the problem was the shore power supply. The L2 line of the 220 shore power is dead. Means the port side has 110 volts but the starboard side is dead (Least my refrigerators had steady power) and of course all the 220 circuty is off line. The wiring and the circuty of the boat is fine but the shore power is only providing 1/2 of what it should.
Anyway; should you run into an issue of only one side of the boat having power or the ac units keep going on and off; grab your trusty multi meter and see if the shore power is doing what it should.

That is frustrating! I have over the years re-wired many shore power cords/ plugs ...with the last one being the 220 on my 510. They need slack, those wires are fragile...I wrap mine over the shore power box one loop before I plug in . Not hard to do but with a sharp knife/box blade its not hard...don't forget to put cover on cable BEFORE you wire up new connector...ask me how I know....lol

The shore power had a line severed. Strange it didn't trip the master breaker.

On a separate note, I cleaned the strainer and all seemed good but noted a definite reduction in the amount of water over flow when I left the boat. Eventually reducing to the point that would not support the ac operation. Come to find out there was a ball of grass caught up in the bottom of the through hull; just behind the grates. A by product of our last outing anchored in the area of a lot of floating seas grass. Ended taking the hose and strainer off in order to get a nylon snake and then ran a 1/4 inch tube hooked to a water hose through the through hull cut off valve. That water pressure finally cleared the obstruction. If it had not the only other option would have been to grab my dive gear. But what a pain.

Does anyone else have a 510 with C 12’s in it? We are looking at one for sale and curious about the Engines.
