Official 370 Sundancer thread

Can anyone explain or have a schematic of how the 370 batteries, isolator, emergency start solenoid are supposed to be wired!? I have a feeling my previous owner did some "creative" rerouting. For example, there's three batteries for the port and starboard engines. But they're all three tied together in parallel. Not sure this is safe for both alternators to be charging the same bank of batteries. And how does that work with the emergency start switch? Does it parallel those three batteries to the generator battery? Generator battery appears to be independent but could be connected with the solenoid. And I can't make sense of how the isolator that's on the wall works. Help!

Watch for a PM with the necessary links ot the docs.

I am also planning to install an inverter this winter and will update as I get into this project. What I'm hoping to do which worked perfectly on our last Silverton is to tie the inverter directly into the outlet circuit using a source selector switch. This way I didn't have to worry about anyone (the wife) forgetting to turn off water heater or charger when running on inverter mode and our main use for the inverter was to charge laptops and run fans on the hook. Also our marina just upgraded the dock power with very sensitive GFI sensors and our brand new xantrax with auto switch over did not switch fast enough and we kept setting off the alarm. The Xantrax senses shore power and switches in 40 milliseconds but the dock needed it to happen in less than 25 milliseconds. I am not an electrician but after being the guy who set this big red flashing light off at the end of the dock a couple times I became educated real quick on this stuff.

Has anyone installed a satellite tv dome on their 370 arch. From just seeing them on other boats it appears you have to have some vertical separation between the tv dome and the radar dome. I see a lot of them mounted together on a metal tower that puts one just above the other in height. Is this truly necessary? The KVH dome is over $2K so I hate to spend another $600 or more on a metal tower if I don't have to have it.

Hey Guys,

Powered helm seat not working - and suggestions on what to look at?

Thank you

If there is no noise at all, then the first place is the breaker panel, located behind the door under the helm
Check there for 12V on both sides of the breaker. The next place would be the switch, or at the motor.

You're not looking for the original coffee maker, are you?
I have the original coffee maker, works great...except the clock makes a bit of noise. $45.00 and it's yours.

When I mounted my KVH M1 on my 330 I used the dual mount from Seaview. It ran about $800 with the light bar. What I read was that if the dome was on the horizontal plane with the radar, I believe, it needed to be 4' away to prevent the radar waves from damaging the electronics inside. In addition, I would be concerned about a possible blind spot created laterally on the radar with an obstruction mounted next to it.
I am also anal with symmetry and wouldn't have been happy with the dome mounted off to one side. That being said, I have seen many mounted on the arch next to the radar.

No but thanks. I have a mini kureg on the boat that I like to use.

Yes I'm starting to feel the same way about the symmetry. Looks like I'll be buying a similar dual mount. Thanks for the input.

I'm looking for info on my third gas tank that is forward of engine compartment and under the Ice maker in the cockpit.
I don't find anything about that tank in the parts manual or options. Do many boats have them?
What is the capacity, and how to utilize it with the third crossover valve installed above the other two.

Thanks
Jeff

Never heard of that. The tank that's under the ice maker would be the port tank.

That should be your port side tank. And the one forward of your generator is your starboard tank. Where are you counting a third tank?

Port side next to engine , in front of holding tank, it inside a plywood surround. Looks to be the same size of the starboard..
Traced the pick up line up to forward bulk head , then runs parallel with the line coming from the one under the icemaker.

Interesting. Haven't heard of a 370 with 3 tanks but guess it could have been an option or aftermarket. The one you described under the ice maker is standard for the port side. And the holding tank is right beside the port engine. There's open room behind the holding tank so I suppose the holding tank could be moved aft and a third tank placed in there. Are you batteries on that same side as well? Between the fuel tanks you're finding on the port side?

So after this weekend I'm considering winterizing till spring. I was low on fresh water today anyway so I decide to do a trial run on the fresh water system. I emptied the tank by running the pump with the swim platform shower on. After that I went up the water heater. Thats where I got frustrated and stopped. I opened the valve on the water heater thinking it would drain though a hole into the bilge. However it just started to fill up the compartment that the water heater sits in. What the hell!? Am I missing something?
Do you guys not drain the water heater using the valve on it? Maybe use an air compressor and blow it and the rest of the system instead?
And is it bad to use the pump to empty the tank?
Thanks for any advice

I believe my 1998 DA had a factory installed drain hose that ran through the bulkhead so it would drain into the bilge. If there was just a drain hole it would allow fumes from the engine compartment into the cabin.

Yes...that's an issue with a 95. I simply drain into the compartment and shop vac it out. No ther way to do it. And you have to drain it!

2 Batteries are on same side between vacuum pump and forward bulkhead.
The other two are forward center lower bilge

Nothing works better than a picture. Can you post one? I have seen a lot of 370's, but none configured like you describe.
