Official 330 Sundancer Thread

Keep us updated on the dinghy caddy install. I'm interested in that. Must be nice to be able to have that beast put into your driveway!

I will for sure. We had the caddy on our last boat and loved it. The downside to putting it on the 330 is we'll lose the use of the boarding ladder, but on the plus side, the caddy can be used as a ladder.

Has anyone come up with a good way to install a ventilation system / fan for when the boat is between uses. We leave the canvas up and it gets very hot underneath it and in the cabin. I installed an exhaust fan in my prior CC cabin that ran when ever the boat was closed up (almost full time for 10 years) and worked well, but haven't found a good place to install an exhaust fan in the new boat. I could install a fan to vent into the bilge and out the engine room vents, but don't want a path to back-feed from the engines into the boat when it isn't running.

I have a recepticle under the passenger seat. I believe the previous owner put it there but cannot be sure. It's "THINK" it's tied in behind the icemaker. Put a small fan on the deck and all was well. I use a cheap WalMart version of one of these:

It fits most anywhere you want it when underway. It's worked well for me. Runs 24/7 when not at the boat.

As for the cabin, I leave the A/C on roughly 78 degrees. Never a problem.

Re: Cup holder in 97 330 da

regarding cup holder on 330`s.. I took ours off, removed all the glue residue, went to home depot, and purchased inch long white plastic spacers, longer screws and white screwhead covers and raised up the cupholder to hold glasses, etc better.

maybe

Thanks. I have a couple of fans but no way cycle through fresh air. Since the boat lives on a lift I can't use the AC.

Tim, and everyone else. Here is the dinghy caddy install. Weaver quick connect with backing plates, new cleats beside the rear trunk.

Thanks for the Pics Jim. I'd love to see a pic of it holding your dinghy as well. Please post if you get a chance. I'm leaning on getting a caddy for my 330 instead of the home made dinghy davits I'm 90% done making.
Is it required to have the new cleats on both sides? I was thinking one new cleat is needed to pull up the caddy/dinghy with a block & tackle on the heavy engine side. Then, you could secure the other side of the caddy to the lower OE cleats once the dinghy is cradled.

You could probably get away with one cleat. I'll try it out for you when I'm back in the water (tomorrow) and let you know.

Mine's automatic. Just pour some water down the shower drain and listen for the pump. I pulled my access panel and cleaned out all the black jelly from the pump box when I bought my boat. Nasty...

Re: Cup holder in 97 330 da

Need to install a new depth transducer to go with the new GPS/Sonar. I can see where Sea Ray says to put it, and where the existing add-on sounder transducer is, but how do you actually get to it. Has anyone done this in a 94 vintage (removable deck panels) model. If so how do you get down to under the v-drive area, it doesn't look like there is enough room to get down under the deck and between the engines???

Thanks - Greg

Few questions....I have a 1995 330 twin 454 carbed, V-drive with Hurth transmissions.....

1) Can I hose out my cockpit to clean it? It seems like I would be able to without getting TOO much water in my engine room.

2)the other day we were out (anchored) and i was running the genny and the AC and i went down in the cabin and it smelled kind of like gas. I shut it down. I was NOT running the blowers. After doing some research i should be running the blowers anytime any gas engine is running....is that common to get a gas smell in the cabin if you are not running the blower?

THANKS AS ALWAYS! i love this boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Smelled like gas or smelled like exhaust? Neither are good or safe. You should get a carbon monoxide detector if you are running your generator. CO will kill someone if it's getting in your cabin. If it's gasoline smell that is also a big issue. Your should never be able to smell gasoline fumes either in your engine room or in the cabin. A slight "engine" smell might be ok, but not gasoline smell.

As as for cleaning very little water should go into the bilge from spraying water on the deck. The hatch has a seal and there are water channels moored into the hatch opening. I don't think any water gets into mine when I spray with a hose.

Does anyone know the height of the arch on a 330 Dancer, '96-'99 vintage? I need to find out the height from the water line to the top of the arch without any electronic antennas or radar. Need to know for clearance at a bridge near a potential new marina.

Has anyone changed out the bulbs in their reading lights (whatever the directional lights are called in the cabin) with LED's? If so what type/watts did you use?

I changed out all the lamps in our 330 with LEDS. You can do a ebay search for wedge base LEDS and get all you could ever want.

As for as the wattage, I don't remember. A lot of vendors offer free shipping. Just remember they are polarized. Only work one way.

After more research, From MCM Electronics, I used part numbers 25-5518 for strings above mirrors at v berth and aft cabin, 25-6420 for stairs and over by v berth (little round Lamps), 25-6155 festoon for radar arch and 25-5890 QTY 6 for overhead in cabin, and head compartment. The reading lamps received LEDs wedge base, in blue and white. I even got a 15 foot string and glued it to the lip around bilge hatch to lite the bilge, . I have to order a couple more of the 2-5890 for the two storage compartments in cockpit.
