Official 330/350 (2008 and newer) Thread

Maybe I was not paying enough attention when fuel was below $4 a gallon but it seems like I used less of it when it was cheaper . I have a 2008 330DA Sundancer with 8.1 Horizon S inboards. Can't find any test reports to correlate against what I am burning. Just took a trip from Wakefield, RI to Greenport, NY which was about 98 miles roundtrip. I burned 204 gallons of fuel. Cruising speed was between 21.5 and 22.5 knots for about 85 of those miles with balance at 5 knots or less and fuel consumption was reading 38.5-40 gallons per hour depending upon seas and trim. Engines have just over 100 hours and local marina maintenance said it can't hurt to do complete tuneup.

Not sure if anyone has found a test report with fuel consumption data or has any data regarding their 8.1 engines fuel consumption. As a note my traveling partner on the trip has a 2000 Cruisers 3675 with 7.2? Crusader engines and he burned 80 gallons less fuel on the trip than I did. At $5.09 a gallon on Long Island (fortunately a dollar less per gallon in Rhode Island) it does not take too many fill ups to cover cost of tune up if this really would increase my file economy.

Thanks for reading.

Thank you for the link to article. Interesting that the V Drive's are so much less fuel efficient than the Bravo's at cruising speed. Dealer steered me away from the outdrive version by saying the annual winter maintenance was expensive. Great forum. Did not know there was a dedicated one for this boat.

The only routine "winter" maintenance unique to the outdrives is changing the oil. There are other items (alignment, bellows, etc.) but that is done less often.

John, I can't reply to your PM, it seems your box is full...let me know when it's clear. Thanks.

Art, just checked message box and it was empty. Cleared it anyway just to be sure. John

I've noticed my trim tab reservoir oil appears to be a little lower than normal - have you tried to add oil to yours? It looks pretty hard to get to.

If you mean that reservoir between the engines at the rear, then no I have not tried to access this unit. You would have to lay on top of the engine and try to reach down to the unit. I rarely use the tabs but I guess the oil can only leak out the cylinders at the tabs. When you pull the boat out this fall look for leaks.

What does the light switch at the helm labeled "comp" turn on? Mine turns on an led on the electrical panel below the helm but as far as I can is not hooked up to anything so I assume does nothing on our model?

The 2008 and 2009 350 are the new 2010 and 2011 370 the 350 is loa 37 6 inches with out the extended platform 39 6 with extended platform

Hi guys - do we have a "filter" on the fresh water pump? Have you accessed it, and if yes how easy is it? I'm thinking it might be a good idea to check/clean it, sometime next month, prior to laying up.

I just cleaned mine as I saw my water pressure going down. It is very easy to remove. It is attached to the pump (port side bilge area). Just unscrew the canister and there is a screen inside. Hose off and screw back on. Be careful the gasket does not fall off.

Thanks John - I'll give it a shot this weekend. When are you all pulling out of the water? Week of 10/30 here -

Out about 10-20 to give me time to finish winterizing and fixing anything unexpected (seems like always something).

Hi everybody,

Just had my one year anniversary owning the 2009 330 Sundancer. Great rig and have had great experiences with the family on it. Just had 100 service last month, too.

Unfortunately, now that my initial warranty has expired, I just experienced the first engine mishap. My port engine (Mercury 8.1 Horizon, V-drive inboards) is not syncing with the starboard engine starting around 2500 RPMs. It only will reach a maximum of 2700 RPMs. Starboard engine is fine. No problems with alarms, guardian mode, oil/temp gauges all normal. No problem at low speeds, no hiccups, etc, just will not exceed 2700 RPMs and boat will not get on plane.

What do you think? Bad fuel line / filter / injectors? Is there a sensor that can go bad?

Thanks in advance, will be calling dealership this week.

Got to 117 hours needed plugs and wires lucky I'm in warranty until 2018 I couldn't get over 3500 rpm on port then my starboard did same good luck

Thanks mainstream...how did you know it was bad plugs and wires? Do you just swap them out or is there a way to test them? PS, where did you get your extended warranty until 2018?
