OFFICIAL 250 DANCER THREAD

Thanks for the info on the engines - I see most of the 5.7's have either a BII or a BIII (the alpha's seem to hardly show up on the 95-98's - I like the twin prop design of the BIII but not sure of the difference in performance between the two. Anyone?

So what does every one store in the little compartment off the mid cabin at the foot of the bed /port side / behind the steps ? was thinking about removing it for more leg room , or possibly put the a/c system in it , what do you use it for ?

That's a good question - I store my portable butane stove, a portable handheld spotlight, and printed copies of the mercruiser manual for my engine and outdrive. Certainly not the best use of the space. I'm fine with the storage space being there (I have plenty of legroom sleeping in there at only 5'9") but I'm considering adding a better door or a shelf or something to make it more useful.

Thats actually something that bugs me with this era boat - lots of storage, but not very convenient or easy to use. One of my next projects after i finish my cockpit rebuild will be to re-do the galley cabinets and storage. Probably keep the footprint the same, but the storage is really akward and not user-friendly

Anyone? I had a 97 250 DA w/the bravo three and 5.7, it was a monster on take off, wish i had that power in my 280!!

I noticed that in 1988 Sea Ray changed there hull design. Which looks like the SRV had a narrower hull, and a few less pounds. It appears The SRV is a tad bit longer. Any body have any opinions on which one is better?

Hey Folks, I just joined this site, I am hooked. Lots of useful info. I have a 250 da that is concidered the "other wife". Love the boat and the boat loves my check book. I am in the middle of an interior update and had a few questions, but after browsing the site for all of two min, I found more than enough info to answer my questions. Like I said, this site is GOLD..

Will post pics of the finished product soon..

I am looking at a 1996 250 with a 5.0. Is it going to be enough engine or do I hold out for a 5.7? Thank you.
I have a 1995 250 with a 5.7l and Bravo 2, I would not want a smaller engine. I doubt that it would even gett better fuel economy. The 5.7 is a good match for this boat and it wouldn't be overpowered with a 7.4l. My opinion is wait.

Just found out that the 5.0 is a 2004 version rated at 260 HP. Does that make a difference?

Well Phlorida, I took your advice. I waited and along came a 1997 250 with a 7.4l Bravo II with 265 total hours. Put a deposit on it today.

Nice boat! I think that you will be happy with it. I was travelling to San Francisco and didn't respond to your previous question about the 5.0EFI - I don't know the answer. Let's see some pictures of your boat when time permits.

Lots of good info, I will definately be using this thread again. Did not read through all of the threads but does anyone have the weight of a water-ready 250 on the trailer?

Will a 5.7/Bravo (1, 2 or3) pull a tube without too much problem? How about planing out with 6 people & a cooler?
