OFFICIAL 250 DANCER THREAD

omg!! you are killing me:smt021 I am sooo ready to unwrap ours but got close to a foot of snow today and don't really think winter is going to end:huh: Makes me want to move south.

Another good upgrade was the extended swim platform..love the extra room it gives the boat

My wife is lobbying for the swim platform which means that it will likely make the list soon. My next upgrade is canvas - replace the front bimini, add a rear bimini and a full cover.

my front bimini rolls off the windsheild and zips to the frame, nice option if you are replacing. as long as you are at it, the screen going to the cabin and one to cover the helm are nice options, Ill post pics when I find them:huh: I have a friend looking at a 95 with a 5.7 now, He really wants the 7.4 but the boat is very clean and well priced. Would love your opinion of the hp and what performance you see.

I will probably engage my canvas guy in the next few weeks and I think I really like your bimini design. If you come by additional pictures I would be interested.

I go back and forth on the engine. I just had the engine gone through and at a WOT of 4800 RPM I am running at 42mph indicated. That is with the OEM propeller. When i purchased the boat I probably would have gone with a 7.4 BIII if it was available but now with fuel prices on the way up I think that I prefer the 5.7. Mostly we run the ICW at 3000-3500 RPM which seems to be a sweet spot for cruising with this boat/engine.

Hello from sunny Buffalo! (5 more inches last night)
It appears that our size boats (25 DA)with a single screw, have Bravo I II or III's
Can someone explain what the difference is between them, and why one is better over another?
Cabin fever is setting in!!!!:smt089
Thought it would be an interesting topic!:smt038

The below two sites answered a lot of questions for me when I was considering my purchase. Hopefully they can help you with some of your questions...

I'm not the person to give a technical response but here are some observations. On the '95, the standard engine was a 5.7L with carb and the Alpha 1. It was also offered in that configuration with all of the Bravo drives, the 5.7L EFI with all of the Bravo drives and the 7.4L with all of the Bravo drives.

The 7.4L is too much horsepower for the Alpha which is the reasoning behind the absence of that drive. Otherwise, I believe that it is owner preference mostly.

Brand new to this Boating thing. I just got an abandoned 1987 250 Sundancer with an Mercur Engine.
I got it over the winter paid very little for it and want to bring it back to life.
First thing I want to do is rebuild the dashboard switch panel. Can anyone prvide me with a good clear picture of it?
Its something I can work on while its still cold outside.

Hi there -

I am a new owner of a 1995 250DA with newish 5.7L Bravo II.

The boat is in great shape and doesn't need much of anything but the the ladder on the swim platform which I believe to be an OEM part has about had it. Does anyone have any ideas on a replacement? Is this a Sea Ray manufactured item?

I think I may have the ladder you need if you are still looking for one send me a note at signalstan@gmail.com

Reconnecting hoses at the bottom of engine???
Not sure which hose goes where? There's two places for them to connect but they are right next to each other.
One is a straight hose the other has a few bends in it. I tried to find them in the repair manual, but was unsuccessful.

That sounds like the hoses going to your raw water pump. If so, one hose comes from the transom/out drive, and the other goes to the engine. The ports on the pump are lables "RH out", "and LH out". Depending on the rotation of the pump, ie. if your pump turns right handed, the hose going to the engine goes to the port labled RH out. Hope this helps.

I'm a bit confused! How will I know the rotation of the pump?
If I remember correctly one hose appears to have extra insulation or tape on it compared to the other (I think that was the straight hose).
I'm sorry to be so vague.

Ok, just crawled on board (freakin snowing here) and found how the two hoses are used. The straight hose with the insulation goes to the out-drive. The other hose goes to the port-side of engine.
I saw where the ports are labeled RH and LH.
So I need to know what direction the pump goes, right?

Update: I think I'm having this conversation with myself! LOL!
I marked the belt and was able to determine which way the pump goes. It turns left. So I need to connect the hose that goes to the engine to the port labeled LH, check?

Next question! I can't for the life of me find where the 2 brass plugs found in the bildge go?
There was one on each side of the engine.

LK,

I just added the extended swim platform this year, but don't have any pictures yet. If you go the swimplatforms.com website, they have some pictures there.
