OFFICIAL 250 DANCER THREAD

Just sold my 1997, it was a great boat for me - I moved up to a 340. That's a nice radar arch, first one I've seen on a 250 - was that an option?

Hey Skip... I bought the boat a few months ago, it already had the arch on it. It is an aftermarket, but I don't know what brand, I can't find the manuf. for the life of me! Congrats on your move up! Maybe in 3-5 years, I'll be in the same boat!!

Mine's a wee bit older at 1987, but we love her! It's a true 25 with the swim platform bolted on the outside. She just keeps cruising along with 420 original hours on the 330 hp 454 with the Alpha one! It follows us to every lake!! I had JUST figured out how to add a picture on SRO, so I guess I'd bettere get it figured out here too!!

I seem to have found my way back thanks to a member of the Searay Yahoo group. My 1987 250 finally got through a season w/o finding its way behind a tow boat. Maybe I've rebuilt enough parts of the motor, drive, prop to keep us out of trouble.

Eddie: Congratulations! Does this mean your season is done? We went out on Friday night and had a great time. It was down around freezing, but we were prepared for it. The weather was great and so was the full moon! We've got another weekend and then we winterize on October 20!

I've been trying to let folks know about this board, but I don't have many personal e-mail addresses. Glad you made it over!!

Any mods to a 250 worth mentioning? I know Eddie took out his aft cabin box against the head, so I did the same thing. I also made a cover for the opening that almost looks original! We also added about six inches to the canvas top so I would rub the remaining hair off my head! What else have you guys done to your 250's???

I left the piece along the starboard side, but took out the 12 inch deep box to add more room for those sleeping in there. With the four of us and two dogs, sleeping space is at a premium. So, I pulled it, covered the hole so we could still use the long storage compartment and then put a foam pillow down to fill the hole. It's amazing how much room it added! I kept all the original screws and stuff so we could put it back when we sell it. I stained the new stuff and it looks pretty close to the old stuff.

I have some at home and I'll arrive there later tonight. I'll see if I can scrounge them up. If not, I'll take some tomorrow and post them. I can pull the piece I made out easily and show you what it covers up. I'll take a picture of the box we pulled out! Made a HUGE difference! I had to pull the head hoses off since they were strung through a hole in the cabinet, but it didn't take very long. I created a new piece, stained it and put it in. Looks pretty good and now we have more space for sleeping!

MODS

Ok, to keep this post going, let's talk about more MODS we've done!

Installed all LED lighting (it's amazing what the boat looks like when you take away the nasty yellow tinted light and bring in a true white light!

Installed several DVD player/LCD Tv combos. Still going to add one more in the cockpit.

Going to install an inverter and 1 more battery (will then have 3 all together, 1 to start and 2 to play.)

Upgraded stereo head unit, added 2 more speakers in the cockpit (radar arch)

Added extended swim platform AND built and installed a LED underlight system.

Ya'lls???

You must be talking about Richard (Stihlbolts) :smt043 :smt043 :smt043

Did you replace the interior cabin lights with LED's? Did they plug right in or did you have to get a board to reduce the power and then plug them in? We have the old style little lights that are extremely hot, almost like halogen. Maybe they are? I'd love to see how to change those and replace them with LED's! I've got websites where I can buy them, but haven't broken down and actually done it yet. A true white would be great!

Yes, every light in the boat is not LED. I was able to find direct replacements online. Many websits offer measurements (usually in MM) that allowed me to match up mine to make sure I was getting the correct size. You shouldn't have too much of a problem. Good luck, the actual "white" light is great!

Excited and Depressed new 250 owner

I am proud to say I am now an official Sea Ray Owner. This past weekend I picked up my new (to me) 1998 Sundancer 250 w/ 5.7 EFI / Bravo III.

I am so excited to get out there on it. :smt001

I am also so depressed because I live in New York, and I had the boat winterized already, so I have to wait till the spring :smt089

I'm hoping to get and give some good info on this board!
