Official 240 Sundancer Thread

Well, I sent MM the good news this morning so we will see how that works out. There are so many things that there are solutions for and you would hope the dealer would at least have a clue as to some of the problems you encounter. I guess if you own a Sea Ray its DYI boating; and of course all your good friends at Club Sea Ray.

Fish, good luck. I hope they step up and help you. Seems like it would be a known issue. We'll see what they say.

Mike,
I have looked from the mid cabin, and it looks like that is just an empty space. I was thinking of cutting a hole under the swing out and making a trash can. I agree, in concept, that layout is fine, but in everyday use, I would rather have a lounge.

Thanks Chris, I always wondered, and didn't think to sneek a peek from the mid cabin.

I think I'm going to talk to my glass guy and see what it would take to convert it. The seat would have to be modified or a fill in made to fit. Just a thought. At least I'll fit a trash can in. That's a great idea.

When I first got it, my brand new 2006 240 Sundancer did the same thing for about a year. Red watery liquid would drip out of it for days and make a big mess in the cockpit anytime it got wet. It sometimes looked as though a quart of blood had been poured on the floor.

After being ignored at first by the dealership, then sending the first poor dealership dealer pictures, and 2 wasted trips to them for repair, it was finally fixed no charge as a warranty item by a much better one. The good folks at the 2nd SeaRay location, Marine Max in Seabrook TX, did the job, correctly diagnosing it, and got it fixed under warranty by Sea Ray. They had to replace the entire fiberglass base/back structure of the seat. The original seat base was a red color on its inside fiberglass surfaces, as seen under the cushion. The new seat base was black on its inside surfaces- no red anywhere - and the outer surface that shows is the same identical white gel-coat finish as the original. Absolutely nothing but clear water ever drains out of it now.

MM spoke to Searay and they are saying they never heard of this before. We checked with your MM dealer and they didn't know either but were looking into it. Do you have any more details that I can share with them to narrow their focus?

Mark V, would you mind giving me a ring to get some details on how you got your seat fixed? I'm getting the MM run around.

Sounds like if you speak to the MM in Seabrook Tx they'll have some answers. Seems like if it was corrected by Sea Ray, they would have some sort of knowledge of the transaction.

Come on Mark V, where are you, your boating brethern needs you! haha

Glad to help Fishnut- tried to send you a detailed PM but your mailbox is full so it was rejected. Please send me a PM when you have some room in the mailbox and I'll try again

Mark V

Sorry about that, we were out boating all weekend. Should be room now. Thanks in advance. Any help will be apprecitated. Got to love the Thanksgiving Weekend cruises.

I think what your asking for the boat with trailer is spot on. keep in mind it is off season for boating come spring time boat will be worth more . In the NewEngland area very popular boat package easy and cheap to use especially with trailer
can be towed by most 1/2 ton pick ups I tow mine with Dodge Ram 1500
plus SeaRay has a lot of nice little touches be patient it will sell

I recently sent a request to Sea Ray for info on removing my helm panel in order to properly repair my entry door. Here is their very helpful response (note this is for a '96 and may not help those of you with 2000 or newer 240's)

Hello Dan,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding your Sea Ray 240 Sundancer. Attached below is a general print showing the helm mounting points. There will be two brackets at the top front of helm panel that can best be accessed by removing the gauge panel and using a long screw driver to reach the four screws. There will also be screws along the outboard side of the helm. The bottom screws are accessible from inside the aft cabin by removing the ceiling panel.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you with this information. If we may be of further assistance, please feel free to contact our Customer Service Department.

Best Regards,

Terry Kerr

Hey guys, I am new to the site. I have a 96 240 Sundancer with the cockpit bimini and a camper canvas. I see lots of 240 SDs with the "rear" bimini but can't seem to find anyone that reproduces this with the frame. Is everyone getting this custom made for $1,200+? The additional shade would make the boat I love that much better!

This is a great site. Any info is greatly appreciated.

SD= Sundeck. DA= Sundancer. Thought you should know.
Welcome aboard.

Hey guys,

Question: Who can tell me whaqt the dimensions are for the transom hatch of a 240 sundancer from 2004?
I want to order a boatname sticker but I do not know how big/small it must be. The perfect place (IMHO) is the hatch :)

I have a 240 sundancer but it is not in my reach a this moment. I then must ride a hour to look up.....so maybe there is someone who is nearby his vessel??

I do not know if the transom hatch is the good correct name...so i have a picture also.

@Todd
I have heard that you lost your job...sorry to here!!

Greetings,
Marco

Thank you. My transom should be identical to your's. You will see that I positioned my sign to transition over the lower edge of the transom locker door so it would be big enough to be visible. I don't have the SR badge you have below the handle, but you'll get the point.

I don't think it is. My cousin has a 240DA. I'm pretty sure it's the same.

Ah, I think I see. You guys are both pre-06 boats. Sorry about that.

I sure do miss the pics you used to post. Sometimes I go back and look at them. But, we need updated pics! Maybe while your out of work you can go get some for us!? yea!
