Official 240 Sundancer Thread

Just bought my first Sea Ray and it´s a Sea Ray 240 Sundancer from 2004. Are very happy with the boat and had a wonderful summer with the boat here in Sweden. Great with a forum for Sea Ray owners :smt038 Perhaps one may encounter a few other Sea Ray owners from Sweden here. Have not found a Sea Ray club in Sweden yet. Maybe I should start one

My bottom step below the fridge was wet this weekend. I had some water get in through the starboard port window when hurricane Irene came through which got my backrest wet in the v birth on the starboard side only. I also had the fridge running for 2 days this past weekend so I am incline to think this is condensation from the fridge. I know others have had this problem how did they fix this? Where is the condensation water suppose to go? The pump below the trash recepticle? I also see some water below that pump in that trash receptacle area under the pump compartment. Is that normal?

Thanks.

Anybody?? This forum is quiet.

I’ve had 3 issues with the floor at the bottom of the step being wet, the 1st one was caused by a loose hose in the sump box under the step, the 2nd one was the windows not closing tight enough and the last was the fresh water fill on the bow had to get re bedded.

Ok, how did you isolate the Fresh water fill. I hope that isn't my problem as I won't even know how to re bed that? 1 and 2 I can take a look at and as I said I did see a tiny amount of water in that sump pump location below the sump pump.

My 240 got wet down there often too. Usually after a hard rain. But I also noticed the water lines under the sink were not quite tight at the connections in the little cubby under the sink, and were dripping from there.

I noticed the floor was all wet and a t-shirt left on the shelf, port side up front was all wet, after looking around I found that the water was coming down that side upfront, so I knew it wasn’t the window again, The dealer found that the water fill was the problem, it was just out of warranty but the dealer and Sea Ray paid for the repair $500+?, I think they removed the headliner to get to it?

Hello All, I think I am going to sell my 2008 240 Sundancer. I just put it up on Craigslist to see what kind of attention she will get. What do you guys think?

Are those photos new or from when you got the boat? I ask since there is no name on the transom and the boat looks brand new.

Speaking a the owner of a 2010 240 DA with many of the same options, I think you are asking a fair private party price. I know my dealer still has a 2010 240 and they have it on sale for 77k, basically same package.

Are you going bigger or just getting rid of the boat? It's a tough market, but if you can I'd hold out for a good offer.

Sam240, where did you get that storage cover? That looks real nice! Mind telling me what it cost?

The cover is from Tony at Arrow Custom Covers 949-636-4631. They are located in Costa Mesa, CA. I was quoted from a bunch of different companies and they ranged from 1800-2200. Tony did it for $1400 and it fit perfect. He should still have the template from my boat.

Hello Ryan, I never named my boat. The pictures are a mix of the first month I bought it and up to just last month. I keep really good care of my stuff, I am what most people call anal (at a whole new level). I am selling because my wife is working part time now and the kids are so busy with sports that we hardly have time to go out anymore. I am really sad and might change my mind. I am in no rush and will try to enjoy what little use we get out of it until the right buyer comes along.

My 2004 240DA has a fuel gauge stuck at 1/2 tank. It never moves. I believe it is a bad sender unit. Does anyone know where the fuel sender unit is located on this boat? I have searched everywhere with no luck. Also, once found, can it be changed without emptying the tank? I would rather not empty the tank if possible.

It is official! I am a proud owner of a 2008 240 Sea Ray Sundancer and I am glad to be here.

My family and I have just polished off the last great boating weekend here in MN on Lake Minnetonka staying in our Sundancer all weekend long. Our boat had 39 hours on it when we purchased it from Marine Max in late April of this year. We now have 70 in one summer :p

I was wondering if some of you might be able to help me out with some questions. Either if you have answers or could just point me in the right direction.

1) My 240 has a porta-potty system with a hard lined pump out. On Lake Minnetonka, most marinas charge around $20 for a pump no matter what size you have. My porta-potty has a smaller tank, in which I know I can get a bigger tank for. Does anyone know how hard it is to remove the old one and replace with the bigger?

2) The 2008 240 does not come equipped with an anchor shoot. Does anyone know of any that are a good fit for the 240?

3) I have found a place in Arizona http://www.swimplatforms.com that makes custom fit extended platforms for the 240. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

4) Thoughts on the camper canvas. Do most of you use it for storage? Or during boating? Does it get hot inside if you put it up on a summer night to keep the bugs or dew out?

Congrats on the boat. See some of my responses below. Please also check your private messages.

I have seen people that added a vacuflush system like I did or change out the porta-potty with one that has a bigger holding tank underneath it. If you go to the vacuflush with a holding tank, I have heard that you will not be able to add a generator later (because holding tank takes the gen. space). Vacuflush toilet with macerator/discharge and holding tank cost around $6k installed.

Do a search on this thread for anchor, because of the front navigation lights people have configured bow rollers in different ways.

Do a search for this as well, there have been a lot of different platform threads.

Without A/C, it does get hot with the camper canvas. It is nice on cold days though and keeps the bugs away at nights.

Congrats on the boat. I bought my 2010 240 last season and had a great summer on the water.
1) I can't speak to this question. We have a vaccuflush system.
2) We just keep our anchor in the anchor locker and tie it off to a cleat when it's in the water.
3) No suggestion here
4) The camper canvas extends your boating season. We used it last fall and we'll use it again this fall. It allows us to cruise around when it's cooler outside. I do not recommend the canvas when it's warm outside. Your cockpit will quickly heat up. You can use it to keep the bugs away, but you'll likely want to be running your AC.

Being anal about the boat is a good thing. I see too many people at our marina who never take care of their boat. I like to keep the boat clean and tidy.

I capped the waste and vent hoses in the head and bought a 5 gallon holding tank from Dometic. The part number is 385311524, $78.30, 800-522-2656.
