Official 240 Sundancer Thread

The super white lights are plug and play i got them from superbright LED and they are about 3 bucks a piece, the blue have there own wire and are actual indiv high power LED 2 in each housing. The boat is at Hyannis Marina.

The balance is actually pretty good. I have 3 batteries on the port side and it seems to ride fairly well. Of course it has been well documented that the 240 can and does need some trim tab work, but when it's just my wife and me in the boat, I don't have to trim the tabs at all.

Hello everyone I have just joined the forum. I have had my 2000 240DA for 5 weeks now and have put 100 hundred hours on her alreday.

my 240da has a manual pump toilet that goes to the holding tank. its full and i have never had it pumped out yet via the deck cap, so far i have only done it the disgusting way of dumping into a bucket and pouring into my septic. if I go to a pumpout station, do I have to switch any valves around? there is one under the seat that I thought was to bypass the tank, but I dont really know.

I tried to build a mascerator pump out to suck the stuff out, but it isnt working(going to try adding a y-valve so that i can make sure its primed with water first). but before i do this, i want to make sure im doing this right. The 1996 manual doesnt even show my set up. it only shows the porti potty.

Does anybody have any pics of the dash at night? I think the marina might be finishing the repair work on my boat and hopefully will have it in by next weekend. But I haven't had a chance to see her at night yet. Curious what colors the dash lites are and what it looks like at night.

I have had this boat since June 29th and it has been in the water for all of 15 minutes before a leak was uncovered. Since then I have had the entire Bilge area and transom redone (Sea Ray covered), a complete new Transom Bracket and Gimbal assembly (Sea Ray Covered), new upper gear case with internal (Selling Marina covered), and many engine part including water pump, engine mounting bolts, oil pan, and many many more. Just when I thought I was finally going to have the boat in the water this weekend I get a call today from my Marina that is fixing all these issues that when they went to take off the old oil pan they discovered a good amount of sludge in the oil pan. Enough to warrant now a new Oil pump and filter. So now I need to wait for yet another part. Now I have to cancel my trip to Sag Harbor as my marina wants me to do 4 to 5 oil change after 2 or 3 hour intervals to ensure they get all the sludge out of the places they couldn't reach.

This is why we are renaming this boat "Hope Floats". This boat has been a nightmare. I hope it gets better but as soon as I see a light at then end of the tunnel something else is wrong. Hopefully, they get the part in again this Friday and are able to get the engine and outdrive in next week. 6 Wks now since I have taken delivery.

And yes survey was done on this boat. Only minor issue found which were suppose to be addressed, but that is a different story which I will detail later. Surveyor has returned my fee and additional money to cover some of the issues that were not discovered.

Searay has stepped up to the plate to mediate between them and the selling Marina (Sea Ray Dealer also) and my Marina (not Sea Ray Marina but Merc Certified) to address the issues but I have had to step in many time to ensure things were addressed properly.

I have found some interesting facts in regards to how transoms were cut out by Sea Ray depending on the original application. I can tell you mine didn't look like it was cut from robot as depicted in their videos. Again Sea Ray has stepped up and repaired and extended the warranty on the hull, but wow this is one Painful experience. Worse then going to the dentest to remove all wisdom teeth without novacane.
More to come...

Hang in there. As I said elsewhere, I'm just glad you're getting support from SeaRay and your dealer.

Install a normal boat toilet and holding tank

Looking for a 240 but few have vacflush, and I dont want the portapotty.

Is there any reason not to install a regular marine toilet (not vac flush), either electric or hand pump connected to a holding tank in the conventional way?

I had a sailing yahct with a manual pump toilet, worked fine, just wondering if there is a reason they are not used on these boats? Just occured to me, is the toilet below the level of the top of the holding tank? If so I guess is has to be a vacflush system that gets installed?

Thanks,

Anthony

Just bought our 240 a few weeks ago and putting the hours on as we can. I plan to spend some time out on the water this weekend. Has anyone replaced the horn? Ours is blown and I'm picking up an Ongaro mini pickup to replace it. I may want to upgrade at some point, but I need a horn and for $26 it'll do for now.

I replaced mine with the factory replacement from my SeaRay dealer, as mine started to sound like a wounded duck. Very easy to replace.

Getting ready to spend our first night on our new (to us) 2000 Sea Ray 240 Sundancer. I thought I knew about the V-berth setup, but realize I don't really know anything at all. Does the table fit in the gap? If so, what holds the table there. I searched the forums and found out that on some models there is a bar that goes across the space and the table sits on that. Is that true for the 2000 240 Sundancer? What cushions sit on top of the table?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Mine has a regular manual toilet. It was an illegal pump straight overboard model so I added a holding tank with macerator pump to the stbd side (had to move the trim pump). The plumbing goes through the cavity above the rear berth stbd side. All good apart from flushes when your trying to have a sleep in.

espo53,
Not sure about the exact year you have, but on mine, there is a bar that fits from one side to the other on the v birth. The table rests on that. You should have a fold out cushon that goes over the table. Did you check the storage compartment?

Thanks Georgia SeaDawg and Islandhopper00 for the info. I found two aluminum bars under the starboard cushion and all is well.
Thanks again for responding

Well after 2 month saga she finally got dunked. After a boat load of doe (no pun intended). She is finally fixed. It was a nightmare during that time, but now I am hopin for the good times.

Here are some of the pics from the last 2 days as we went over to Great Kills in Staten Island and the previous day we went down the Navasink River.

Problem is now that I have it back I have to batten down the hatches for Hurricane Irene. Uggg.

So glad to finally be back in the water.

As a side note, I changed my shower sump to the same model as the 260's and now no problems. It's the rule sump box. My old atwood set up sucked. So, one more bad sea ray decision made right! haha
