Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

I have a 2000 310 and need to see where if possible I can find the door under the sink in the galley. Yes something blocked it from opening and it broke trying to force it open.

I lost power to my DC lights (the AC lights work) also my light and fan in the bathroom is not working .... radio is out as well ... and looking at the volt meter on the DC panel it is not working either ... I am not sure where to start checking ... any suggestions?

Thank you

Sounds like your battery switches are off or they are dead. You should have 2 house batteries and a port engine battery. I had all 3 fail due to a lack of service, i did not add water and the battery charger cooked all 3.

george-- There is a main DC breaker panel below the outside sink. There is one specific breaker dedicated to lights and cabin items. You will also see your battery selector switches. There are also a few smaller breaker below the helm mostly radio etc. Hope this is helpful and just a breaker re set.

If you like ac then you WILL need a genny. Having said that I live in south Florida and you need ac here you might be able to get away without it up north. We overnight with genny on all night for the ac. We turn on the genny on Friday afternoon and dont turn it off until we get back to the dock Sunday night.

Has anyone replace a wiper motor if so how do you gain access to it oh starboard side ?

When we bought the boat, four years ago, the wiper on the starboard side was not working. After doing some research and checking with Sea Ray, you need to pull the headliner down in the cabin to get to the screws and drop the panel where the motor is. Our solution, we just don't go out in the rain :). I really don't want to pull the headliner down.

Let me know if you do it and how it goes.

George 2064. Did you find the problem?

Any suggestions for the engine room gas struts?

Mine don't have any when I bought it and not sure of the exact specifications.

Also, trying to find the part # for the transom rub rail end caps, not sure if that's the correct term!

I bought the end caps from searayman on e-bay. I think he might have the struts also.

If you can't find what you are looking for from his e-bay store, e-mail him.
He is good to do business with.

The headliner is easily removed using a Phillips- Head screwdriver and "feeling" for the screws along the forward edge. Once you find the screws you create a "hook" out of a flat piece of metal and grab the liner and peel it back thereby exposing the screws (I used on of those metal covers for the expansion slots on the back of an old pc... putting it back in is reverse but don't go tight until you know you can push the liner back in. Also don't forget to adjust the travel before you close it up. I explained this in this thread a while back..

Hello all,

I have a 1999 310 with about 600 hours. A few weekends ago, we were traveling on Lake Michigan with 10 people aboard hearding north about 24 NM running at 3400 RPMs. Waves were about 3-4 ft coming diretly from the north. About 16 NM into our journey, the engine alarm came on and I noticed the port engine was running about 190 (versus normal 170). I shut down immediately. We pulled into a safe harbor and I jumped into the bilge. I cleaned the basket (which was NOT bad). We re-started the engine and checked for water flow on both sides. Both looked good. We continued the journey without issue.

So, the only troubleshooting I did was to clean the baskets in the bilge and I adjusted how the boat was trimmed. With 3-4 ft waves, I was running with my bow a little high to make the journey more tolerable. I am not sure if this limited the water flow exiting the boat due to the way the boat was trimmed and the extra weight or if it was truly something blocking it in the basket?

Last weekend we were out and the port engine was running about 20 degrees cooler than the starboard. I slowed and put it in nuetral to rev which brought it up tothe expected 170.

So, thoughts on this being a problem I should dig into more or just a intermittant issue?

Life is Good, Based on what you did, it does seem that the strainer was blocking flow since it continues to work properly there after. I do not believe that by trimming this would affect water flow. Do you know when was the last impeller change was done? I maintain a record of these specific items like filters etc. For me these items were always changed in my mine a couple of months ago which in reality it was some time back. I would keep a close watch on your tempertures to see if they begin to increase. Recommendation would be, if you do not know the last change pull and record. Peace of mind.

Anyone know what size or "length" for the holding tank vent filter for our year (I have a 99) 310DA? I want to grab one offline today for the weekend, but I'm ordering blind here. I looked up the part number, and tried to find information for it, but I believe it's too old. I'm pretty sure this is the original filter and it's never been changed. Whenever I flush the toilet, the 5 people on the back of the boat want to commit suicide.

They are common. Go to or visit anyarina supply and they are pretty standard. Do your guests a favor, and the other boaters! I just had the same issue. $120 was well worth it.
