Official (1990-1993) 270/290 DA thread

Hello and Happy New Year!
I'm planning on replacing the rubber fuel line, vent line and filler hose this winter. Does anyone here know the access location for these fuel tank connections on a 1993 29 DA?
So I answer myself - the hose connections are about mid-way along, under the rear facing seat. I cut out a rectangular hole and put in an access hatch. After that changing hoses is easy. Looks good, too.

I've done a fair bit of maintenance and upgrading this winter. And some re-organization. I replaced engine sensors, re-routed some coolant hoses and upgraded some wiring. Rerouting the shore power connection and the city water inlet to the transom makes them much more convenient. I put in a ducted, diesel heater and two drawers under the vee berth. I had to replace the old water pump. I also installed some LED strip lighting in the cabin and cockpit. Soon, I'll be refinishing the teak swim grid and waxing the hull. We'll be back on the water in April. Yaay!

The drawers under the v berth sound interesting. Its a pain fighting that big cushion to get under it

I dont have winter access, so nothing done. Time to get waxed soon and I have some canvas work scheduled the end of April

Yes Dave, the drawers are providing easy-access storage which is always valuable on any boat. I built sleeves and the drawers in my shop, then installed them. The whole process took a day and $125 in material, most of which went to buying the drawer fronts.

Hello All,
Looking at a 1990 290 Sundancer. Have it going to a shop next week for an inspection. Hope all goes well. It is good to see that this thread is still being used.

Good luck! I have been throughout our boat, literally everywhere and it's impressive. Sure, we have done some maintenance and upgrading but that's to be expected on any older boat. Otherwise we are delighted - can barely wait to get her back in the water!

I'm curious about the fridge, if anyone knows. Mine is a Tek II, if memory serves, which doesnt work. I haven't taken it out yet, so it might not even be hooked up, but other than a 12v breaker at the helm, there's no other breaker anywhere. I assume its also 110, but thought there should be a breaker for that. I turned on the fridge switch at the back of the fridge to no avail.

Our fridge has a 110 volt breaker on the AC panel. They typically run on 110 when you have shorepower and switch to 12v. when you unplug.

Thats where I expected it to be but not there. I have stove, receptacles, water heater, air, microwave but no fridge. And no blank spot

Saw an ad for an unusual '92 290 in Oregon. Someone made what looks a stainless tubular exoskeleton over the cockpit. It goes from transom to past the windshield, over the arch. It extends down both sides, just past the side cockpit windows.

It is not used for canvas, as the canvas is still the factory style. There is a dingy mounted on the forward part.

The front/back cockpit seats have been removed and replaced with bucket seats. It is certainly different

When I saw the ad, I was so busy looking at the upper frame that I didnt realize the boat was covered with fenders.

Hello all I just looked at the 1990 290. The wood beam that is in front of the gas tank is rotting away. I cannot hear and issues while tapping the hull. Is this typical to have to replace this beam? How do o get to the stringer to check,it out?

I was wondering if anyone had a remote level indicator/sensor on their waste tank? I had 6 high school girls on the boat and within 24 hours filled the tank and it over flowed out of the toilet into the cabin. Ugh.... Funny you can put 10 guys and 20 cases of beer on the boat and never have the same issue?
Mine is in the head as part of the electric flush toilet . Just replaced an old pump out toilet version . I am not off the hard yet so I can’t tell you how well it is going to work.

Hello All,
i have a 1990 280 DA. Mine is not counter rotating. I was told that it should have been and that someone must have changed one the motors or out drives incorrectly in the past. I am having a hard time finding any information on my on the internet. I am sure you are the experts. were there 1990 twins that were not counter rotating?

does anyone one have an owners manual for these boats? All i can find on the internet is an owners manual that shows new boats with different systems than mine.
