Official (1990-1993) 270/290 DA thread

Hello fellow 270/290 Owners! Does anyone know and can advise where I can get a cockpit cover for my '93 290 DA? The vendor has to be able to ship to Greece. I am also checking locally with some canvas workshops but I would like also a reference from the US market.

Many thanks.

Brgds

You can not buy a factory cover. You have to have it made.

I found a website i was perusing called rnr marine. They advertise OEM canvas and frames if i read it correctly. Anyway, they have cockpit covers for 92-93 290 sundancers.

And this happens to be my first post, but i swear im not affiliated with this place. I was looking for canvas and frames for my boat

Many thanks Dave, this is actually a good site, I will have a good look.

Read a post over in Sport Boats that had a link to another forum. Sounds like rnr marine is a nightmare to deal with.

I'm getting my canvas made locally this week coming so pretty excited about that

Yeah that's a good idea, I also got a very attractive offer locally and with very good materials that will be custom fit.

A question on seacocks. In the forward bilge, starboard side, there are two identical robust looking seacocks, side by side. One is hooked to the newly installed head. The other is not attached to anything. I have not yet determined where the ac is hooked up although what appears to be a pump is mounted forward port in the bilge and i have a transom spigot starboard, but i havent checked to see if it works or not. Just wondering what's normally supplied by the other seacock

I cant post a pic cause I dont have one but its in the aft cabin, under the cushion on the port side.

Yeah, mine's located at the same place, but this is the bilge for the shower right? I am renewing proactively all bilge pumps and overboard pipes during this dry dock.

Well, if you're facing the bunk, my shower bilge pump is under the center cushion. The fresh water pump that supplies your system is under the port cushion. And under the starboard cushion, I just have empty storage

I am in a marina called Evergades in Perfelaw, Lake Simcoe. I sold my sailboat 1 year ago, and I used to be at Port Credit Yacht Club. I gave up the sailing thing, bought this 270 DA and decided to go back to lake Simcoe. I like to boat at Geogian bay as well. Stayed there a couple years at a place called Hindson Marina in Penetangueshene.
I know that right beside Port Credit Yacht Club(do not mix with Port Credit Harbour) has a nice pubic marina. Also Snug Harbour is not too bad as well.
I was at hindsons for last season and 2 years ago with a different boat . I find them expensive but they do have descent amenities and excellent staff .This year I will be on a private dock without power and water for a mere 1000 for the season. I can ask the owner if he wants another Sea ray there .

I really do appreciate the offer, but Sincoe it is very convenient for me. I leave in Markham and it is 25 min from my house with no traffic at all.

I have a couple of questions. Under the rear cockpit corner seat, there is a storage box on which the cushion sits. Has anyone ever removed that box? Im just wondering if the area under is finished or left unfinished. I find it a pain for removing that port side bilge cover.

I have not been able to find any stereo speakers in the cabin. Im assuming there are none? Not sure I relish the idea of removing that dinette length stero housing to add them.

Cabin speakers should be in the v berth on both sides of mirror. Flip mirror up and hou should see them. Its your locker for hour anchor line. Mine were upholstered over from the factory. I believe they were 6.5s. Removal was sort of a pain but I trimmed the fabric and installed the new ones from outside.

Many thanks Bugsy. They were certainly well hidden. Curious how they upholstered right over top of them. Even when I looked in the locker I didnt see them until i got close and looked in at an angle.

I guess the rear cockpit corner seat will have to stay. I was able to get over 60' of hose stored in that box under it!

I think I have my seating issues at the helm solved. The one thing I dont like about this boat is not being able to comfortably stand at the helm. I'm 6', so no way I'm fitting under the bimini. With the bimini folded, its still not comfy. My legs hit the front of the seat and it feels like the steering wheel is way low . I don't care to sit because I just cant see the way I like.

The other day I put my 48 qt Igloo on the seat and sat on it. Perfect! Im not entirely standing but I'm well elevated with a great view. Head is under the bimini without crouching and im looking straight through the isenglass. My feet are on the deck so I guess its a cross between a seat and a leaning post. The base of the cooler is big enough that there's no wobble.

I dont want a full cooler sitting on the seat so I ordered a 36 qt Igloo marine cooler just for the seat. Its a tad smaller so I'll have space for a throw cushion on top. I will probably just store cleaning brushes inside.

Hope to launch in a week or two so i can try it on the water

My windshield vent (the bottom center powered piece) apparently broke in a previous life and was replaced by a very thin piece of plexiglas which has warped. I have the size measurements for a replacement but not the measurements for the holes. Any idea where to find them? I could probably measure the old one but i have to flatten it out first

Hi everyone! Do you know if there is any drawing (preferably with detailed dimensions) of the side decals for a '93 model?
