There are alot of granite tops in houses so I doubt radon should be much of a factor in material choice.

Ha!
Thought: ....anybody do corian? That could be another option.
Because most boaters do not serve meals while underway. If you need a drink, that is what the cupholders are for.
Tony,
You might give Scott Cambra at Vector imaging a call. Scott is one of our advertisers and does the dash panels. I have talked with him in the past about having him make custom inlays for table tops. He can make them and I believe he can also install them.
The type of onlay that was used on Bill Collector's table is very thin. The upside is that it is much easier to install than traditional routed in marquetry. The downside is that it must be installed perfectly as it may crack, or bubble. Additionally, you can never refinish the table as the onlay will sand off.
Since you don't have a B in L who will work for materials and drinks, and will definitely lay out a boat dollar for the table, get one made that will last you years.

Well, I finally had my cockpit table custom made. It is teak and holly, with raised lips to prevent slippage and four cup holders with drain holes in the center.
I had a satin finish marine urethane applied, so I will get a few years out of it with no maintenance. I love it!

That looks great. Nice touch. Thanks! I can't take my eyes off it whenever I'm in the boat now (except when I'm at the helm!).
I also ordered some teak flooring for the cabin...will post pic when it comes in.
