Obama Infomercial

I would vote for Lou...anyone that would rather be on the water instead of an office has my vote.

Saltydogz,

Seriously, let's not get ahead of oneself. I think you need to think about the Train that is ready to hit us if Obama gets elected. BTW, has Obama ever been a Governor of a State or balanced a budget? What exactly has Obama done????

And yes, I would trust Palin in the WH before Obama. But that was an easy question.....

What I think is that those we elect are really not the ones that make the difference or are the captain of the ship. It the people we never see or hear that do all the deals behind the close doors there in DC and just then tell those we elect what to says or how to vote.
I am not for either side, both have the good and bad points. I am more concern for, not the ones we elect, but more for us because I do not see any change coming anytime soon from whoever get in the White house next week.

But hey we get to do this again in 4 years...that will be fun.

More taxes makes a difference.... Obama states he is for more taxes, both corporate and personal. That will negatively impact our economy, our businesses and personal savings. Do you think raising capital gains tax is a good idea? I am a business owner, you tax me more, I will have to hire less or charge more or both. Not a good business plan......
You say we get to do it again in 4 years and that will be fun....Waiting 4 years is not fun!!!

Obama's prime-time ad skips over budget realities
By CALVIN WOODWARD, Associated Press Writer Calvin Woodward, Associated Press Writer 1 hr 20 mins ago
WASHINGTON – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was less than upfront in his half-hour commercial Wednesday night about the costs of his programs and the crushing budget pressures he would face in office.

Obama's assertion that "I've offered spending cuts above and beyond" the expense of his promises is accepted only by his partisans. His vow to save money by "eliminating programs that don't work" masks his failure throughout the campaign to specify what those programs are — beyond the withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

A sampling of what voters heard in the ad, and what he didn't tell them:

THE SPIN: "That's why my health care plan includes improving information technology, requires coverage for preventive care and pre-existing conditions and lowers health care costs for the typical family by $2,500 a year."

THE FACTS: His plan does not lower premiums by $2,500, or any set amount. Obama hopes that by spending $50 billion over five years on electronic medical records and by improving access to proven disease management programs, among other steps, consumers will end up saving money. He uses an optimistic analysis to suggest cost reductions in national health care spending could amount to the equivalent of $2,500 for a family of four. Many economists are skeptical those savings can be achieved, but even if they are, it's not a certainty that every dollar would be passed on to consumers in the form of lower premiums.

___

THE SPIN: "I also believe every American has a right to affordable health care."

THE FACTS: That belief should not be confused with a guarantee of health coverage for all. He makes no such promise. Obama hinted as much in the ad when he said about the problem of the uninsured: "I want to start doing something about it." He would mandate coverage for children but not adults. His program is aimed at making insurance more affordable by offering the choice of government-subsidized coverage similar to that in a plan for federal employees and other steps, including requiring larger employers to share costs of insuring workers.

___

THE SPIN: "I've offered spending cuts above and beyond their cost."

THE FACTS: Independent analysts say both Obama and Republican John McCain would deepen the deficit. The nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimates Obama's policy proposals would add a net $428 billion to the deficit over four years — and that analysis accepts the savings he claims from spending cuts. The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, whose other findings have been quoted approvingly by the Obama campaign, says: "Both John McCain and Barack Obama have proposed tax plans that would substantially increase the national debt over the next 10 years." The analysis goes on to say: "Neither candidate's plan would significantly increase economic growth unless offset by spending cuts or tax increases that the campaigns have not specified."

___

THE SPIN: "Here's what I'll do. Cut taxes for every working family making less than $200,000 a year. Give businesses a tax credit for every new employee that they hire right here in the U.S. over the next two years and eliminate tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. Help homeowners who are making a good faith effort to pay their mortgages, by freezing foreclosures for 90 days. And just like after 9-11, we'll provide low-cost loans to help small businesses pay their workers and keep their doors open. "

THE FACTS: His proposals — the tax cuts, the low-cost loans, the $15 billion a year he promises for alternative energy, and more — cost money, and the country could be facing a record $1 trillion deficit next year. Indeed, Obama recently acknowledged — although not in his commercial — that: "The next president will have to scale back his agenda and some of his proposals."

So saltydogz, you must make under 300k, wait, no its 250k, wait, now its 200k,wait, do I hear 150k.....yes, and before you know it all those people making 40k who think they are going to win the lottery will be paying more to fund Obama's socialists policies along with the "rich", Why you ask, because he has already voted 4 times for tax increases for people making 42k per year. Look at the whole picture with this guy!

Yeah. . .well. . .I don't expect to hear much Obama love in THIS forum.

I approached this election with a pretty open mind. Personally, I feel that Obama is pretty far to the left of where I am. I was waiting for McCain to "make his case". In my mind. .. he never did.

With much more limited funding the Obama, McCain seemed to go negative very early. This seemed to ensure he could get his negative message out. But at the same time, he failed to put out a real positive message. I never heard anything much more than "Obama is a Librul" and "I am not Bush". Frankly. . .as a candidate he needed to do more than that.

The VP choice. . .oi. That is a whole topic in and of itself. Suffice it to say that there were better candidates available. This selection completely undercuts his entire "experience" argument. Yeah, Palin may have more executive experience than Obama. . but frankly the experience she *does* have does not impress me positively.

Not that Obama is perfect. Far too left. BUT, I think in these troubling times, we need a President who is articulate and has a firm grasp of the issues. During the third debate, he presented far more detailed information regarding the Ayers attackes than was presented by McCain. I learned more about the "issue" from Obama than I did from McCain. Frankly, after two terms of G.W. Bush, we need someone who can think and can talk.

And yes, I know that Obama has run more negative ads than McCain. But he also has run more *positive* than *negative*. It must be nice to have so much money.

I don't need to hear anything about capital gains taxes. I won't be paying ANY for a long time. Cut it. Raise it. Dice it. Don't matter to me! I have LOSSES out the ying-yang. Thanks for asking.

Why isn't anyone talking about the union pay-back (open card) legislation that will now sail through the congress and be signed by Obama? When this passes, employees voting to join a union will no longer have the right to a secret ballot and voting does not have to occur on site. Do you think this could open the door to coercion of individuals by unions or their reps? Why do the unions want this change? What are the chances that more union organization will help the U.S. economy? How's the auto industry doing? Union steel companies? Why hasn't the popular media covered this issue, only the Wall Street Journal? Check this issue out, its real.

How can I get my money (what is left that is) into some off shore account. Hell, maybe I should move off shore...maybe the Bahamas or Baja California, or Costa Rica........hummmmmm.

Gotta move quickly, before Osama is "tested" by some enemy of the country! Only have 6 months, better get cracking.....damn
