Obama Infomercial

If I am not mistaken. . .SS currently takes in more than it spends.

Yeah, but like all Ponzi schemes, it sooner or later runs out of new entrants. A simple study of population clearly shows that it will soon be paying out more than what comes in.

Frank.

You are absolutely correct.

This was the *entire point* of the "social security trust fund". Take in more than you need *now*, so it can be paid out later. Kind of like your retirement assets.

The fact that this is not happening (the excess funds are not being saved) is more a function of embezzlement rather than a ponzi scheme.

What they doing with this money?

What they doing with this money?

Lord only knows.

Bottom line: The federal budget deficit would look ALOT worse if they weren't raiding the Social Security system on a routine basis.

I don't know why people keep fueling the SS myths. This link might better address the accusations of embezzlement. http://www.nasi.org/publications3901/publications_show.htm?slide_id=7&cat_id=77

We don't have the money now to be affected really one way or the other to be terribley affected right now, but what's being planned is not "fair"./QUOTE]

Do you plan to buy gasoline for your boat over the next four years? How do you heat and cool your home? Hopefully, it is not with coal generatated electricity.

I think you missed the point. I am financially conservative politically. As far as taxes are concerned I'm not in the bracket that I would be affected drastically either way. Now as far as what will come for businesses and the like......that is where the rubber will meet the road for us.
Yes I plan to buy gas. I plan also to heat my home with Natural gas. I cool my home by opening doors, because I live in the PacNW. It rains here everyday. It's not coal generated, it's hydroelectric, cleaner than coal, but we killed fish runs building the damns.

Please don't try to paint me as a Liberal.
I voted for McCain....back off
