Here is my opinion (for what it's worth) as a former moderator on the old SRO forum because I understand how challenging this job can be at times.

I think it can be difficult for the moderator (Wesley) if he doesn't have a general set of rules he can fall back on to support his actions. Jim, I realize you have been more than fair in dealing with people on this board. But as the owner of this board you can be very autocratic and do just what you want with a member whether they like it or agree with it. Wesley can't really do that and that's the difference. I think it would be good if we had some "forum rules" he can point to which is what has been suggested. They don't have to be lengthy or complicated just some good common sense stuff.

Anyways, that's my 2 cents on the matter.

Maybe its just me, but that Homer Simpson tattoo thing certainly doesn't sound like something that should be banned...:grin:
 
........wow.....Gary saving someone sure went sideways. Anyway, we have Blue sheets and use 2 ply TP.
 
Hi Dave S, thank you for the comments. I agree, I will and have always supported what the mods want. Wes has put together a set of rules and will be posting them soon.

Gary banned himself again? I'll have to go a couple of pages back to check that one out :grin:

I don't think there was an issue with that. But I do think it points out an issue at hand. Let's say I put up the picture of the two guys but instead put a subtitle of "Bill Kearney blah blah blah" under it. (Don't delete this Wes... I'm making a point). It would have been deleted... why? Because some people are behind the scenes going "That offends me and you should kick him off and delete it wah wah wah..." and so Wes has an eagle eye on *anything* that might insult said whiner. Should the two guys in spandex be deleted with my name on them? No... It was humorous.

Look at the post that Wes deleted on here earlier and then put back with an XXX in it.. What if the thread said:

Would that have been deleted? Probably not... Is that "bashing"? no... But it was deleted because the guy I mentioned is a PITA. Matt (Pirate) called me a BASTARD here yesterday.. Was that deleted? Why not? If I called "you know who" that would it get deleted?

But.. it's what people want the board to be then it is what it is. Let a few whining people turn it into a censored and dry place because *ALL* posts will be subject to this to protect the lowest common idiot.

My 2 cents. BTW... The first company I founded back in the mid 90's did Internet censorship. What a hoot that was.

Actually, I half expected getting pushed into the water at BIH by someone at some point for something that I posted over the years. Surprisingly, it never happened. What a great bunch of people!

Rule #5 - If a user calls another user a bastard but they have a history of being friendly to each other then it is OK. But if a user calls another user a bastard and the 2 users have a history of arguing then the post is subject to being deleted or edited.

This is good stuff, lets keep the scenerios coming so we can cover all of our bases.

I expect all this "non-pwc-life-saving" crap to be deleted out of here ASAP
 
this whole censorship thing sounds very similar to the democratic party feeling that they know what's best for the people. I say a better solution would be to grease them up and let them wrestle it out. My money is on Gary for his sumo like build.
 
Who are you referring to with your post Gary? If it is to people you like then it is OK. If it is to people you don't like then I am going to have to refer to rule # 5 and delete this post. :smt043

Ok. . .without using any bad words. . . .

Some of the users in this thread are acting like children.

And some of the admin/moderator types are being forced to act like parents.

And no. . . I am *NOT* one of the sensative types.
