I dropped our Yamaha WaveRunner in the water today (got to deal with ramp idiots) and was going to put it on the back of the boat for our trip... and run it around a little. I backed it in the water and my oldest son drove it about a mile over to the boat. I got to the dock and a friend of mine has a couple of new high-powered Sea Doo's sitting there he just got a few months ago.. One is being worked on (10 hours and broke already) and the other is OK. He asked if I wanted to take the one out and "test drive" it so I said SURE! I just clear the dock and this guy goes zooming by going about 70 mph in a similar ski about a half mile out he hits a wave and his Sea Doo goes flying into the air rolling along with him. He lands a good 150-200 feet from the PWC in the water. I went on over to him to see if he was ok and give him a lift back to his PWC and he climbs on the back and I ride him over. As we pull up to his PWC, he says "let me rinse the blood off" and I turned around and there is blood all over the back of the Sea Doo I'm on. I said "are you ok?" and he said "yes"... The way his head was I couldn't really see and so I said "look at me" and holy crap! The guy had a gash about 6 inches long down the side of his head and about the top 1/3 of his ear was flopping down like a dog because it had been partially severed. He had blood flowing down the side of his head and it wasn't the red stuff but the dark red/purple kind. I said "You are not ok" and by then his ski was being covered in blood... He was scared and asked me to follow him so we rode to shore where his family was waiting... I went back to the dock.. He went to the emergency room.

I returned my buddy's Sea Doo to him... with blood on it... and said "Thanks... cool toy". Too bad I didn't have my camera.

Very nice indeed; the flopping dog ear was a great image this morning. Thanks

Stories of you being a good guy do not get deleted. It is nice to see there is another side to Gary

In that case, let me tell you the real end to the story. After I saw the gash on his head, I asked him what his name was and he said XXX and which point I pushed him into the salty water and he started screaming and I sped away.

XXX - Edited by First Born as I saw this as bashing

That a way Gary,Glad to see you had it in ya. We all new you could do it. GREAT JOB

I have one of those PWCs. 255 horsepower in a 800 pound PWC is pretty unforgiving of idiots.

Finished my break-in hours yesterday. Saw 70 MPH on the speedometer, but it was flat calm water in the bay.

BTW, I usually hear a couple of distress calls on channel 16 each summer. These emergency calls are for immediate medical assistance because someone on a PWC ran into a boat in one of the anchorages. Even the low powered PWCs are about 130-150 horsepower. You can't just give 'em to kids and people who aren't cautious and expect things to turn out fine.

Best regards,
Frank C
