My boat project

Thats one of the biggest I've seen!

Mistercomputerman, most mobile chicken barns are for free range or "pastured" birds. You can move them to new pasture regularly, following the cattle or whatever. If you never tasted a free range bird - you've not et chicken!

OK, so it's what we call a chicken coop, except it's on wheels so you can get those free-range chickens to the nail shop to have their pedicures and massages. I'm with you now.

Sorry for the long delay in an update. Honey do's are under control and the SRV240 is really taking shape. I have installed the Lawrance 520C and we know have GPS navigation, depth, and a fish finder. The NEMA2000 network is very nice, but Lawrance is a nightmare of a company to do business with. They do no product support after 5 years.

I glassed in the bow were the through hulls were so the bow is clean in the water. I put a thick layer of color matched gellcoat down to seal, and protect the glass. It will get a light sanding and the black botom paint. I wish I could share the pictures with you all, but I post one and I hit my posting data limit.

I got the bolster in the stern rebuilt and put into place. The wife did it and it looks great. I think she even had fun with it. The canvas is in the shop for a window repair. I hope to get it back next week.

The new fiberglass engine cover is installed and it really pulled the cockpit together nicely. I will mount a cutting board in the top of it for bait prep. And a knife holder down in the side.

She went into sound on wheels in Auburn today to get 200 watts of marine sound system installed. She sounds great.. Thanks to Dan and the guys for a clean install.

The new harmonic balancer made the engine run smooth and start easily. All the bad clunking noises went away. Yippy it was not a rod going out.

I moved the fresh water cooling back to the front of the engine were it was meant to go. That removed 9 feet of un-needed hoses, 6 home made copper bends, and 20 hose clamps. I feel much better about the limiting of failure points. You can now access the coolant tank with ease at the front of the engine. This gave the main wiring harness its stock place on the engine to live were you can get to it. This is a much tighter installation and as SeaRay intended it to be. All new USCG proved hoses everywhere.

I glassed in the support for the shelf that is under the gunwale. There were some rotting plywood supports holding up the stern end of the shelf. They were past there prime, and needed to go. The benefit is that the stern area drains to the bilge much nicer than it did before. It looks slick too.

I moved the pump for the trim tabs up under the transom to get it up and out of the way. It looks good and will be much less prone to take on sea water now that it is not just sliding around on the deck. I moved the trim and tilt pump over closer to the engine to make room for something over in that corner, like a live well air pump.

The new Aluminum tank showed up today. It looks great. I cant wait to put it in. It even has a new sending unit with it. It will have to wait a week before I can get to installing it.

I bought a 3/4 swim step off of a little bayliner today. It is the plastic type with slats. Nice and wide for a cooler. It has a built in swim ladder. It is just long enough to cover the transom, but it leaves plenty of room for the kicker motor. I am not sure how I am going to mount it up. I would like to use the original SeaRay mounts, but they dont like up with the swim platform. I will have to sit down and look at it and brain storm until I can make it all come together.

This week the trailer will get a new master cylinder. The old one has been out of commission for some time. I can't believe that Joe drove the boat around for a year behind a Toyota truck with no breaks. He is lucky that he did not get killed.

I will finish up installing a perko battery switch and the second battery, the bilge pumps, VHF antenna, and fuel flow sensor. Then a big clean up and put her back together before sea trials on Lake Tapp's, next weekend. If all goes well, and we burn off some of the old fuel we will be headed to Hood Canal for opening day of crab season. We just love dungeness crab.

It has been a ton of work, but she looks like a new boat. Everything finally works like it was meant to. I have gotten several good money offers for her which is very nice. The time to be out on the water and fishing is almost here, and the end of the work is in site.

Ok so I ponied up the 25$ for the membership so I can post pictures. Ill get on that ASAP. Just and old Scotsmen at heart.

So here are some shots of the tool that was needed to get the harmonic balancer off. balanc.jpgball2.jpg

Just an FYI - You didn't need to join to post pictures. Either way, glad you could support the site. I would still host them remotely because you get a lot more 'freedom' to do what you want with them.

Go to www.photobucket.com and setup a free account. Then upload your pictures and copy the IMG (image) url. Take that image and when you make a post here, there is an icon for linking to an image. When you paste the link, it will show up in the post.

Sounds like your doing alot of great work to the srv, looking forward to seeing more pics.

Maybe he was showing you the tool in the background of the torque wrench? This could have been an after picture when he was actually torquing the bolt.

" that was needed to get the harmonic balancer off"

Just commenting on what HE said....and observing the picture
seen this happen more than once ..usually because a torque wrnch is longer they think they will
get better leverage but not considering damage to the tool itself.

Just a note that the torque wrench in the photo is a scrap one that fits into the 4 foot cheater pipe well. Yea I would never use it for its intended purpose ever again. But it will take the 250-400 foot pounds that some breaker bars will not. Best part no black eye, broken wrist, or smashed thumb!

IMAG0699.jpgTrailer master cyclinder installed. Got the breaks bled, and everything is working great. It will be nice to have breaks!!!! I moved the boat back one foot. I will check the tongue weigh and and go from there.IMAG0700.jpg
