Hello,

Was curious what many of the marinas in the area charge for year round slip rental in their facilities? Is it by foot or the slip/year? More interested in Western bayside marinas. If you can share I'd like to know the name of the Marina and rough idea on price?
I've checked alot of Marinas websites but they always say to call.... Thought this may be of help to many...

Thanks....

Our marina quoted us $1800 for a slip and $1600 for dry stack. I'm not sure if that changes with boat size. I didn't ask. I was suprised to find that dry stacking was cheaper. There is much more work involved for the marina, launching and pulling every time that we go out. If I had a wet slip, it would cost $40 to get the boat put on a work rack. With dry stacking, they move it to a rack any time I want for free... Doesn't make sense to me.

Just curious.. Do you keep your boat at Smith's? I've been a "regular" transient there for 2 summers now... I think we were chatting one Sunday morning this summer. You gave my buddy Dave a tour of your boat. We were slipped next to Hank a couople of times.

Hey Mike,

I agree $40 to move to work rack is ridiculous. They could at least include 6 free moves per year with the inwater slip plan....I am not in Smiths. I am on Starboard side as you leave Smiths on a lift at private residence at 6 mile marker... If your buddy Dave liked the boat he toured, which wasn't mine, he should see mine and I may be selling this spring.... I think there is someone in there that is from Mt Airy. Purely coincidence..Not me...

Not in you area, but for comparison our marina charges $6 per foot in the water. So my annual fee is $930... but we only get five months.

My guess about the cheaper dry stack would be that its much more valuable to simply walk down the dock and get on your boat, any time, at a moments notice... for me anyway.

$2100 per year for a 30' covered slip. Free water and Shore power (basic 110V connection). 30 amp power charged per meter rate.

We keep our boat in the wetslip all year long here in Florida. We pay 15 per foot and it includes water and electric. Unfortunately their forklift can only haul out 31' or smaller so I have to go to another boatyard for any haul outs at $250 a pop and $40 per day work rack rental.

Our marina charges $60 per foot per year. They have a huge waiting list and you have to be military or a civil service worker on base to qualify to use the facility.

Slip Rates
Vessels under 25 ft .......$1,495
Vessels 25 to 30 ft:........$1,595
Vessels 30 to 35 ft:........$1,695
Vessels over 35 ft:.........$1,795
Vessels over 40ft:..........$1,895

Since “what comes with that” matters…..

Includes water, 30A electric, secured (gated) parking with remote gate opening, clubhouse with showers, restrooms, satellite TV, outdoor area includes large porch area, camp fire pit (they provide the wood) kids play are with swing set, grills (they provide the gas or charcoal, they do not want you using your onboard grill at the marina) pump-out (no-fee if you do self service, some small fee if they do it) They have onsite mechanics, the head mechanic is a boater, keeps his boat at the marina and is around on most weekends, a big plus in my opinion as he is a great, honest guy. They also have several ‘parties’ a year. Normally they provide burgers, brats, hot dogs, bear, soda and some snacks. People often bring a dish to pass so it’s never the same thing twice.

Gas is available but not free.

In our area there are several municipal owned marinas with fewer services at a small fraction of the cost. Also some ultra low service private marinas at very low cost. Also, there are municipal moorings that are even less.

Previous slip was in the Richmond, VA area. Floating docks, fixed price, either $165 or $155 a month depending on which side you were on (one long dock, slips on both sides). One year contract required. One side had a shorter finger pier, designed for smaller boats. This did not include electric. No cable TV. Bathrooms were gross.

We are now in Deltaville, VA in a covered slip. The slips are priced by their size and their view, yes their view, at least that is what the dockmaster told us. Average price is $3600 a year. You can pay by the quarter, semi-annually or annually. Each increment costs less and at anytime you can pay for a full year by paying the difference between what you have already paid and the full year price. We have a wider than average slip with a great view, or at least we are told that. Electric is extra. Includes cable TV. Nice enough bathrooms and a pool, which is currently covered so I cannot comment on it. Overall a nice marina.

I paid $45 per foot plus 7% sales tax for winter storage Nov 1 to March 30. ($1,541) Summer slip rental is $155 a foot plus 7% sales tax which will be $5300 for my 32. Electricity and cable is extra. 1 year total fee is $6800. Docks are non floating.

I am not allowed to do any work on my boat below the gunwales. I went down to the boat on Sunday and waxed the hull and just as I was finishing a guy from the marina came over and told me I was not allowed to do that. He told me "they were a full service marina and thats how they make their money." (I guess $6800 a year rental fees isnt enough?) I think they wanted $400 plus the cost of the wax to wax my hull. It took me about 2 hours.

I didnt get the bill yet for winterizing the AC, water system, head, generator, engines and oil change. I'm sure that will be over $1,000. Oh, and I'm not allowed to bottom paint either. (which I understand for EPA reasons, but wax? come on. )

They also charged $14.50 a foot for shrink wrap and an addtional fee in the spring to recycle it. I am having a canvas cover made for $1700.

The main reason I picked this place is because I have 2 small children and the marina has a pool and is within walking distance to the beach. My plan is to see what next summer brings and then I will make a decision on 2010.

I pay 2833.00 for the year

Covered, 40' slip. $6 / ft / Month, or $2,880 / yr. Electricity is additional. Indoor rack storage is available up to 24'.

I pay around $3600 per year for covered, secure slippage. This is an average, as we pay our electricity as we go. Gas docks, bathroom and pump out facilities are on-site. Across the street is a very nice grocrey store and a liquor store is in our shared parking lot. It doesn't get much better than this!
