Inwater marina slip prices?

actually, that price isn't bad for a 450DA. $6300/season w/free electricity around here for something that size.

It is a direct result of the cost of owning and maintaining water front property. I don't guess New Yorkers are immmune for it, whereas those owning lake front property in East Jesus County, Ark may be.

Just received my slip contract for 2009 - $2500.00 for April 20-Oct 20 but you still have to pay for a haul-out/storage for the winter months on top of that. This year heated/indoor storage was $3200 for the winter (including in/out) but usually I just store outside in the boat yard for about $1000 and cover/winterize it myself.

Sayyy Whaaaaat !!!???!!! $8496 for a 340 dancer with discount ..

Man, that is crazy.

Does anyone know what their father's paid 'back in the day' for slip prices per foot? 60's? 70's? 80's? When did the pricing really begin to take off?

Doug

$350/cord for 30 amp service? $700 for electric. That's criminal!
Our electric is metered and even the larger boats at our marina, with 3 ac units running all weekend long and dehumidifier function running all week long, dont get much over $100/month, and that's only during the 31 DOG days of August.

Yeah, I know - they have every right to charge whatever they want. You don't like it, leave!

My father-in-law kept his boat at Liberty Landing Marina (Jersey side if I recall) last year. I think I heard him say it was $12K+ for the year. And I think I heard him say his 750 sq foot 13th floor apartment rent was $3000+ a month.

Too much for me even if it is NYC living.

We're paying $2750 per year for a 30' covered slip including electric & water and lots of spider & bird poop!!!!!!! :wow:

This seems to be the going rate on the Cape, I have a friend with 225WE that has a slip in Falmouth and he is paying over 5K from April till Oct and they have nothing on site.

Hyannis Marina is well run and has a lot of amenities

· Large Private Pool
· Clean Private Shower Rooms
· Laundry & Game Room
· Internet Cafe - NEW!
· Dockside Cable TV
· Dockside Internet Service
· Trader Ed's Cabana Bar & Grill
· Tugboats full menu restaurant
· Discount Boater's Store
· Full service Repair & Parts department
· Yacht Brokerage & Sales Department
· Onsite Electronics and Canvas Shops

That’s one of the reasons I bought my first boat from them, everyone from the sales dept and service have been very helpful.

We're right next to Bridog....$8500 for a T dock.

No amenities.

There are not too many options in our area. SR maintenance is on-site, however. Would that be considered an amenity??

Hey Dave. Look on the bright side. You pay less per foot than me and you have that killer view. I hope you guys are back this Summer. It was nice being next to such a great family.... and boat  Sincerely, Brian

A few comments on this thread.. My boat was a repo that came out of Hyannis port marina. After seeing those rates, I now know why the former owner couldnt afford it.

Brian (Bridog) I was thinking of switching to Cyrstal Point before I committed to my current marina. I left a voice mail before Christmas, but didnt get a call back until 2 weeks ago. I was offered a slip for $3,000 for the season. (near the pool) I think Donna said a "40% discount". Since I already paid $1000 non-refundable deposit to my current marina, it didnt make sense for me to switch. Not sure what "offers" will be available next year, but I am planning on finding something in that general area and may be moving in with you.. Hopefully, no one will steal the beer out of my cockpit fridge.

I paid $4420 for my 2009 slip (which included $350 discount for returning and another $350 discount for storing over the winter). Winter storage was $45 a foot plus $1300 to winterize and change the oil. I'm guessing it will be another $1000 to bottom paint and install new zincs. My marina won't let me do any work my self. I even caught chit for waxing my hull when it was out of the water.

For waxing your hull? That's ridiculous. I despise how marinas want to have such a monopoly on their slip holders. Nuts.

I guess it's too late for the upcoming season, but if you had considered driving down to Pt Pleasant, might I suggest driving another 10 minutes (to Brick) by car so that you are not trapped in the Manasquan River and have the freedom of exploring the Bay w/o braving the canal? My ex-marina is sure to have slips open for next season. It is a very nice place with a pool and very kid friendly and the tenants are great people - we're leaving some good friends behind by moving down to Toms River next summer. It'll cost more than that Crystal Point price you quoted above. PM me for details if you're intersted. Or we'll just talk in AC this summer!
