Inwater marina slip prices?

I didnt get the bill yet for winterizing the AC, water system, head, generator, engines and oil change. I'm sure that will be over $1,000. Oh, and I'm not allowed to bottom paint either.
Yes Vince, Probably closer to 3K. Our marina doesn't charge by the foot, but rather by the slip. We have a 300DA but a 340DA could slip there easily. I pay 5700.00 Actually 5130.00 with 10 percent off early discount paid in full. No security, no pool, no nothing! wait ....they do have bathrooms and kids that steal your beer from your cockpit refrigerator on the weekends.:smt089

Wow some of those prices are something.... Here the marina is owned by the city of Montreal. 500 slips. Largest boat 60ft. Fee: $57.00 a foot. LOA, measured by some laser instrument. (anchor is counted) Guarded, pool, includes power and water, gas available, two buildings with showers and washrooms. No winter storage possible on site. Really nice setting. Five minute drive from home....

I am where Mrs Robinson was (Appomattox Small Boat Harbor) about 20 miles south of Richmond, VA. All of what he said is true, however, I guess it is all in your point of view and what is important to you. This marina is only 5 miles from home for me.

The slip fee is $165 per month payable quarterly. Twin 30 electric is metered. I average about $30 per month for electric. No cable but the owner has no problem with tennents placing a satellite dish on the pilings. The bathrooms are what they are. I shower on the boat.

The pluses to me are that the owner lives on the premises and everybody knows everybody. It is in a VERY protected cove. So much so that when Hurricane Isabel was meandering up the east coast and decided to take a hard left and destroy most of Virginia, this marina lost one board on the dock. There is a clubhouse available for a very reasonable fee.

I think if he can survive the current recession, make a few improvements and if a planned dredging project goes through to revitalize Petersburg, VA, he is going to have a goldmine on his hands.

So, in case anyone is interested or planning a move....here in the Delta area of Northern Cal I am paying $355/month for a secure, covered 36' slip. Water is included but power iis extra. We pay about $10/month for the power. All that is year 'round.

We also have for our use: swimming pool, private launch ramp, guest dock priviledges, free pumpout, trailer parking, free brunch Saturday and Sunday. Two times a year the marina holds a free private party for berthers and their guests with food, libations, music, etc.

Oh yeah....it was 80 there last Sunday. 74 today.

Was? We still have a boat there, just not in a slip, it's in the covered shed and slightly smaller than Mrs Robinson.

In addition to David's comments, from May - October the marina hosts a concert series every other Saturday. Beer trucks, food, Hooter girls, lots of fun.

I'm paying 4800 annually for an uncovered 40' slip here in NC + elec + cable. 30 minutes north or south and its half price. There are tons of empty slips around here these days but the cheaper ones north and south are full, wasn't so last year. Next April I'm either moving, or bottom feeding for a better deal at the current place. One would think they know its not going to be better next year and a rented slip at a reduced rate is better than an empty slip and no income. SB

" or bottom feeding for a better deal at the current place"

I was able to negotiate a better price where we are...simply ask.

We keep our boat wet year around and in a single user boathouse with electric door. The marina offers nothing extra, but having it in a house 5 minutes from where we live...... PRICELESS. Not cheap, $675.00 per month plus metered electricity ($30/mo yr round avg) It works to be $11.25 per foot per month for a 60 foot house. This is in the Tacoma area.

We pay $2,750/year for a 40'x14' covered slip including fresh water and electricity. Renters have to pay for winter heat electricity from December through February if I don't winterize, which adds about $350 for the winter electricity. I don't winterize, just put a cabin and bilge heater in and she's ready whenever we want to go sicne we often have 70F days during the winter. Here's the lay...I especially like that I can back up directly to the boat.
