I can't be the only one fascinated by this Titan sub ordeal

Yep. And how hard would it be to put some type of locating mechanism on the damn thing?

I read a profound random comment earlier - "why did they paint the damned thing white". A great point if it's bobbing around on the surface, barely visible, waiting for the dude with the 24mm socket to show up.

I read it had a pining device and had emergency surface ascending…… something went terribly wrong the minute the thing started descending
I think so, kinda like this...

Can't imagine what is going on if they are still alive. Think about being in that small space, no food or water, no power, so it's pitch black dark, cold (water temp is said to be in the 30's), basically waiting to die. It would be a miracle if they come out of this, but the reality is that they and the sub will never be found. Ironic the Titanic is still taking people to their grave all these years later.
Figure it's only a matter of time until one of these passenger rockets has an Appollo 13 episode and kills a load of people. Billionaire adventure trips are not for the faint of heart.

I am VERY claustrophobic and just thinking about this makes my heart race. I couldn't even ride the submarine ride in Disney. No f'n way I'd get in the Titan. Just goes to show you not all billionaires are smart...
It's bolting the hatch down from the outside that gets me thumping even if the thing was still up on the motherships deck.

I got my fingers crossed but I think it's been over since about 8:45am on Sunday morning.:(

If you wanna, do some net search for pictures of the Scorpion. US sub went below crush depth off the Azores in lte 60s. Thresher was first, Scorpion 2nd. They found it, months later. The crush depth photos are, well, amazing. Body parts pieces scattered around the wreck.
They say the instant of implosion is instant. Youll never know what happened.
Almost 3 miles down, just no. Its not like the Argentina cave guys. They aint saving these folks.
PS. The Kursk was only a few hundred feet down in the Baltic and no survivors. Nobody knew how to rescue them. This is why the Submarine Service is voluntary.
Ya this pod can withstand crush depth. Theyll wish it didnt. Russians found letters from the Kursk crew written as they were slowly suffocating. You can find those too.
It will not end well.

Never knew I was claustrophobic until I had my first MRI. It's been all downhill since then, I hate this fear.

This one doesn't end well sadly, no chance of it IMO.

It's a really sad situation no matter what. Pray please

Risky Business, they sign a weaver that mentions death three times, thrill seekers pushing it to the limits.
I went sky diving last year and the mention of possible death was mentioned in the pre-screening and weaver, told my wife(who was not happy)it will be fine!

MRI will do it. My dad was never claustrophobic until he had to get an MRI at age 70. Had to bail after 2 minutes. I only do open MRIs.

On way home little while ago. Russo , Mad dog CH82 XM was interviewing a CG rescue helo pilot. Guy was explaining the difficulty of finding this thing.
Interesting thing he said, while we always go out, its our job, during a 2 hour flight to get to search area what goes through his mind is “what the hell are these adventure people thinking, Most really have no clue the dangerthey are getting into “.

As a functional safety engineer, my blood is boiling over this thing. How could any engineer let this thing be commissioned into service.

Was there no tether to the service ship?

I don’t want to be mean or anything but I think something is wrong when people put their lives at risk rescuing
100%…… but we should be allowed to debate what were you thinking as we spend your tax payer money and ours ….. looking for them
Already asking on TV who is going to pay for this.
Just like having to rescue solo sailers in the Southern Ocean during the Solo Around the World races.
Bet you the tax payers.
