How safe do you feel?

Well, we've been told by the marina staff to not go outside the gated areas at night.....so not very safe. I personally carry, so for myself, around a 6-7...however my wife and kids on their own, about a two.

We did have a woman struck by a bullet just outside the marina last week.
Ouch!

My Squadron Mate Mike Smith was the Challenger Pilot. I was there watching his launch. It was not a cool moment for Susan and me...just sayin'...
Sorry Carter, I didn't mean the Challenger was a cool moment at all. I meant watching the new one with my son. And getting back to space.

My house backs up to the largest public park in Charlotte. There is a protest planned for tonight at 6pm. They plan a walk from the park entrance through the most affluent neighborhood in the city. You can bet there will be a significant police presence. This afternoon there was a protest planned for the Southpark area. Southpark Mall a very upscale Simon property shutdown and barricaded the entrances. There were 1500 police staged in the area ready to move in. The Charlotte police are done putting up with the riots. Last night they shut it down quickly as soon as the protest looked like it was starting to turn violent. Tear gas and rubber bullets were let loose quickly.

How about this: For the first time in over a decade we launched astronauts from a rocket on US soil, they connected with the space station and the missing is going well.

Now THAT is something to be very proud of, but we hear little of their successes with all this other crap going on.
I was looking forward to see what affect this had on the price of Tesla stock. I own some and was excited to see it go up $63.10/share.

Woooo Hoooooo!

I expect it will drop off some tomorrow as some people take profits off the table. Not me, I'm in it for the long term.

Apparently the police in Santa Monica have had enough as well and imposed a curfew that started at 1:00 PM this afternoon to keep the crowds from building all day into the evening. It will be interesting to see if that helps. These kids will soon tire of the shenanigans and move on unless of course there is actually an orchestrated movement behind this to push Trump into escalating things and doing something they think will trash his chances of winning in November.

On twitter I'm seeing a bunch of videos, exposing carloads of white guys with brinks (antifa).

I can say I am a bit ashamed of the people in Indianapolis causing the destruction they have done. I thought we were better than that here.
Especially in the county that is still shut down.... Kick the businesses when they are down is disgusting

No Castle Doctrine in MN. Besides, I would try and escape a situation anyway. IMO no life is wort

We watched as well. Extremely exciting, and as Bob and Doug stated, it looked smooth. We watched the docking on Sunday as well.

Speaking of Tesla, seeing as this launch was "nominal" (going to use that word in meetings), I would expect Elon is working with the WH and the Pentagon in some capacity, eying up potential Space Force contracts. Hang on to that stock.

This is different. We have been thru protests and riots before. Rodney King, Bulls Championships, OJ, etc. All where essentially confined to urban centers. Last nigh, a nice little suburban downtown was trashed -- stores broken into and looted. We had some activity in town I work -- several stores (cell phones and liquor) broken in too. These are places you have to drive to get to. This is not normal.

I am surprised we didn't make the list ….Joseph Hogsett our Mayor of Indy is a hard core Democrat.

I'm not going to try and start the classic Canada vs US debate. Both countries have their pro's and con's.. But man I cannot believe what is going on down there. Hope you are all staying safe.

If anybody feels unsafe.. you can come visit us Canadian folks, we'll have a pot of Tim Horton's coffee ready and if you're lucky... i'll even let you ride my pet beaver
We live in Alberta and when we had a flood in 2013 many houses and entire neighbor hoods were abandoned for days. There was no extra police patrolling the areas and there was no looting of stores or houses and no vandals. One mayor was asked what he was going to do to ensure there was no looting or vandals and he said "Nothing more than normal we live in Canada".

Was talking to a friend who owns a shoe store in New York. He went down to check on it and he said at first it looked completely cleaned out from the looting... later as he looked under the rubble he was surprised to find out not a single work boot was stolen :)
