Honda EU2000i

As a forum we do not recommend the use of portable generators onboard boats.

Neither does Honda by the way. The Honda is not Coast Guard approved. Not ignition protected.

This DOES raise a question and that is what should BE Coast Guard approved? Is there some fine line for our BBQ grills or outboards mounted on the swimstep? Do Tanaka outboards vs. Yamaha have to be Coast Guard approved? Please, I'm not trying to jump in and cause problems, I'm really just curious. Where is the line?

I see the usually know it all's, that no dick all have put their 2cents worth in.

Yes it will with no problems. :smt001

My friend Roger has a 10.000 btu air conditioner and his Honda 2000 runs it.

Wow, four pages just to get the answer.

(Whole thing seems like a set-up...just to stir the pot).

I'll just sit back with my six pack and some cheetos and just chill out for a while.
My Honda 200i does a great job in front of the dinghy for the boom box.
Also balances the weight out well!

Jeeze it's gonna be a long winter.

I think I need to head down to Sarasota for a break.

Anybody need their boat washed down there?
Trade for a ride and a few cold ones.

Boom Box, that's so 80's! Get yourself an iPod and you can lose the genny in the dingy and have room for an extra six-pack or two!:smt043

If I anchor close to the shore, and put my genny on the shoreline, how long of a cord and what size should I run out to the boat. Wouldn't that be safer? No CO to worry about!

Why not daisy chain three 100' 30 AMP "marine" shore power cords. At the junctions, use two fenders wrapped with bungee cord to keep the connection above the water. Since there is hight probability that someone will try to drive ther boat over your shore power cable, you should make the cable every 10' -20' with a brightly colored marker. Make sure the generator is place far enough away from the shore not be be affected by the tidal or wave action. Be sure to use ta stern anchor to keep you boat from turning too much and stress the cable...
