Thought I'd add some pics from our trip to Greenport. It was a blast. Great meeting Dancin' Dave and family and Ric and his wife.
We pulled out of Port Washington friday morning to some nice weather
I was outrunning a little cell the whole way. here's a pic after we went around orient point.
Coming into the bay, the water was smooth and inviting
we arrived at mitchell marina around noon.
Here's a shot of Dancin' Daves 45DA
Saturday morning, we headed out for some breakfast.
my trusty scrap catcher at my side
We stumbled into a ship store and in the back was nothing but salvaged boat stuff. Everything from old rope to fishing rods. Most of it was junk.
I almost bought a rusty spare anchor
I also hunted for some SR gauges but no luck
Here's a pic of Jim from BOE guarding the place
I headed to the Blacksmith shop and he made me some hooks to hang my hats on for my apt
Went for a swim to cool off
After a long day of shopping, we kicked back for a little nap
Sunday, Dancin' Dave's party and us headed over to shelter island for a look around.
here's a pic that Dave's wife took as we dinghy'd around
Here's a pic of me waiting for something like a bat to fly out from under the bridge and attack me.
here we are standing in front of a hardware store flexing our muscles
We walked through town. Here's everyone doing a Gary imitation.
We then headed back to Mitchell's and the girls wanted to ride the Ferris wheel.
It was way too fast for me though
After a long day, they guys walk the docks to discuss man stuff.
Had a little party on Dancin' Dave's boat where he forced us to drink milk. (I stole that from Dave's post)
Someone reported me for sneaking a beer onto Dancin' Dave's boat and I had to spend the night in the Greenport lockup
Monday we went back to Claudio's for some steamers and beer
As we were finishing up our bucket of beer, the YP ships started to arrive.
Not enough room on the pier so two had to raft up
I should also note that the generators on these things are freakin loud. One generator powers all 6 ships and runs 24/7. It pretty much sounds like a lawn mower is running in your cabin at night.
It was a fantastic trip and Greenport was great. Looking forward to returning next year, but without the storms this time.
