Great Lakes Launch Dates?

Cutting Edge-
I doubt we will be in much before first week in May. I'll head down tomorrow and see how bad the docks are. I may require a beverage if your around. We just posted to McBoat about a marina Delay due to the damage to docks / water lines / electric. Charlie's Angle, Broken Waters and I will make a point of meeting w/ your storage guy and locking in next years storgae.

I am targeting the last week of April but may fall back to the First week of May. Boat is outside and I need a few good weekends to get her ready.

Lake St. Clair here I come.

still waiting for the ice to GTFO of the Green Bay Yacht Club

Did not make it there today.
Son is leaving to go back to college tomorrow and tried to have some time with him.
GF is leaving for FL on Wed so I am planning on spending weekend at boat next week.
Bob says if I want I can stay on boat.
Weather permitting I will do that.
I will contact you later in the week.
Get together for a beverage or two.

When are you getting hips done?
If you need any help, just holler out.

Dan

Already had the boat out twice since monday. I won't put her in in front of the house though until my list of repairs is finished.

Canvas work is done outside seats cushions having new thicker foam put in them. Also having installed 10- 6 1/2inch and 2- 12inch Polk audio speakers along with 4,000 watt amps and a new Pioneer stereo unit.
Then replacing the under water LED’s with the new 48LED units. Wax and drop her in after that. If all goes well she should be in before the weekend of April the 18th.
Need the boat in for the weekend of April the 18th because Mike Mad Dog Adams show will be at Mel’s Crows Nest in Marblehead, Ohio for the launch party

Speaking of Crows Nest, have your heard anything about Crabby Joes not Opening?

Being that we are supposed to get 7 inches here Saturday....I am sure that is going to affect my luanch date a week!!

I need to stop by MKE marina and see if the ice is all out or not? I imagine with the warmth it is...but you never know around here!

Our date is May 8 - we have to have a run from Skipper Buds Milwaukee storage to Racine

Cuting Edge-
Just headed in from Mad Town this PM and heard of pending rain, ice , 7" snow fall. I cant believe that does not sound like prime boating weather to you. I think this may add to the marina delays this year too. We will have be patient I dont think Buds has our new boat scheduled to be delivered until early May. I can see I will have to bumb a ride w/ you till we are wet!

I don't believe there will be any boats in McKinley until the dock damage from this winter is repaired... The good news is that the repair barge is making its way over this afternoon.

Launching April 4. I'm a little concerned about the temps at night still dropping into the 20's, but I'm at the front of a heated warehouse, so I have to get out of the way. How low is too low once I'm in the water?

Spent all day yesterday bottom painting and polishing/compounding. Tomorrow wax. My boat was a repo that had sat outdoors for at least a full season without any care, so the glass was trashed and the upper gelcoat was dull and oxidized (sides were still shiny). I was amazed at how it came back with just a little work. It looks brand new!

Spent many days working on her this winter and have completed the following projects:
1) all new glass
2) new camper
3) props tuned and reconditioned
4) replaced bad cutlass bearing (found a piece of wire had gotten wrapped on the prop and fouled the bearing)
5) replaced fuel cooling lines due to leaky fittings
6) all new stripes
7) bottom paint
8) oil/filters

Every project was helped by guys on this board, so a big thanks goes out to everyone.

I want to caution other Lake St. Clair boaters (and other in general), drove past the lake a couple of mornings ago and it was very still, so you could see across the surface of the lake very clearly. There was a lot of floating debris in the water. Could make out several tree branches. We had some pretty severe rain this spring, so there is probably a bit of extra crap out there to run into. I'll probably cruise back at 10-15 MPH and keep a sharp lookout so that I don't hit anything.

In since the first of April. Survived two significant storm events, I think I'll wait 'til mid April next year.....

We've been launching mid April for about 32 years well north of you. We've had some nasty weather in terms of cold (see signature pic) but nothing that would ever do damage to the boat. We've had worse weather in May. Several years ago we had 100+mph winds on Memorial Day weekend that blew down houses and countless trees. We lost 7 big oak trees in that storm, but not the flag on our flag pole, and the canvas mooring cover on our 37 SR was not damaged. All we had on the boat were a few leaves.

Looking for mid May in the upper thumb. Dam snow last weekend.

Bottom painted,Hull waxed and new stripes and new name done a little work inside to do but that can be done anytime, she goes splash on April 17
