Getting close now, fellas. Warm week coming up for the Great Lakes

At our home port I don't go bow or stern in. Cleaning should be easy too. ;)

Our spot circled in red.

I grew up in London...great town. How did you end up in Port Stanley ..... I though you were headed for Sarnia..... most people I know in London and Dorchester moor in Leamington ....closer to places to go in the states
LOL, I was in Port Stanley for drive last week and noticed there is a Bridgeview Marina there too. Sarnia is still the plan. The picture I posted is from Bridgeview Marina in Sarnia. I guess when there is a bridge near your marina that name becomes natural. We have some friends already at Bridgeview Sarnia and others in Grand Bend so it made the most sense for this summer.

Josh,
Welcome to Bridgeview, you will like the Guildwood area. Our 460 is just back from you in the 500 slips. Bridgeview Marina has been great for us these past six years and we like the Sarnia location for its small city amenities. Also you can head north in either Ontario or Michigan so easily, or just stay in the St. Clair River and go south. We had eight great years at Algonac Harbour Club prior to this and those two marinas have a lot in common.
See you after launch.

Thanks for the warm welcome. We are very excited to be joining you soon.

WAS getting close, beautiful and 80’s here. Transmission is coming out tomorrow, it will be 8 weeks before I get it back. It needs to be rebuilt

Looks like another warm up coming this next week. I'm hoping to get myself in the water by next weekend. Still a handful of boats on stands in front of mine, however. Three to be exact...but who's counting :)

To tide myself over I'm going to go pickup my Walker Bay dinghy today. I might even sit in it in the garage this weekend and have a beer, maybe two.

Going in Wednesday, can't wait. Have a great season and safe launch.

Getting closer....shrink wrap is off and survey is done. Only recommendations were electrical grounding, fire suppression system inspection and install a CO detector. Next up is bottom paint, launch, engine inspection and sea trial. Oh yeah.....and we still have to wait until we are our of lockdown on May 20th.

Same. We use our dinghy nearly every weekend.

I love visiting harbors with floating docks. It's nice to see how the other half lives. Walking from the swim platform onto the dock is a real luxury :) When I register at DNR owned marinas I usually register (and pay) as a 46' boat so I can get a 50' slip. Bow-in and room to walk off the platform, boating utopia....

I like my stern out on the water and the privacy we get from it...

Im in as of 8 am yesterday, We like our stern in on our floating dock. That being said i had rented my slip for three years before purchasing it (just paid off) .One day after being in it (today) i get a text from harbor master saying my boat is 1 ft too long i need to bow in. I dont like to bow in,for one i go to bed around 10 pm and i dont want to listen to all the dock noise until midnight or later. I also dont like dancing around a post to get on my boat especially with gear coolers etc. And the woman is not happy about it at all she says we will sell the slip and go elswhere, which i dont want to do. well im in anyway.

I originally (last fall) scheduled my boat to go in on May 15th. I called last week to ask if there was any chance of moving that date up. I was told no problem. One boat blocking mine going in the last week of April and mine could go in right after it moved out of the way. I called today to see if they had a guess as to a date and was told May 15th as they were doing the best they could and had to stick to the schedule.

Not upset they have to stick to the original date, just a bit butt hurt they got my hopes up of maybe being on the boat this weekend. Oh well...I still have plenty of bourbon and for some reason I want to visit the local cigar shop this weekend. :)

I noticed the rental docks all went up $400 per season at our marina. The dam that broke and emptied a few inland lakes in michigan last year has filled the marina to capacity and now they are price gouging.I will be allowed an extra 5 ft of boat for $275 a year in my slip i am only 9" to long so i will use the 5 ft by parking my dinghy behind my boat. The 5 ft also increases the slip value by $2000 so theres that.

Most of marinas here have short finger piers like mine in pic. Can’t bow in if want to. Couldn’t get off boat.

Whelp I'm in. With my typical luck I launched on Saturday during a gale warning. Fortunately the wind was coming from the south. It's the only ideal wind direction for my slip so I'll take that as a good omen for the rest of the season.

Looking forward to a great 2021!

They sure waste a lot of space between boats.

Got an unexpected call late this afternoon that my boat is in the water and being delivered to my slip at the marina (week and a half early)!!!! Too late for me to make the trip tonight, but you can bet tomorrow is going to be an abbreviated work day.

Of course I was planning to go spend some time with her in storage this weekend to get some things done easier on the hard...but I will suffer through those chores in my slip with a cold beer.

Let the boating season begin (in the low 50's during the day and high 30's at night)!!!
