Getting close now, fellas. Warm week coming up for the Great Lakes

Got an unexpected call late this afternoon that my boat is in the water and being delivered to my slip at the marina (week and a half early)!!!! Too late for me to make the trip tonight, but you can bet tomorrow is going to be an abbreviated work day.

Of course I was planning to go spend some time with her in storage this weekend to get some things done easier on the hard...but I will suffer through those chores in my slip with a cold beer.

Let the boating season begin (in the low 50's during the day and high 30's at night)!!!
This is just a guess, but I probably saw it leave CVM this afternoon???

No, it was at Walstrums and it made it to the marina yesterday afternoon.

Just got back from it and checking things over. Can't wait for the weekend!!
Well then there were at least two 1980's vintage 340 owners that saw their season begin yesterday. It's great to see the boats beginning to move up here in the Straits.

We went in 4/16 in Rochester and had decent weather the first week. I went out 3 or 4 days in a row for some quick runs but since then it’s been terribly cold and rainy. Hoping we turn a corner here soon

Either way we’ll start spending Friday-Sunday on the boat this weekend

Any issues with your shaft or props?
Hi Rich,
No issues, boat ran great. Ran it in the morning and the engines really like that cool morning air.
Really looking forward to the season. Maybe we can meet up out on the lake this season. However, with the water being considerably lower than last season, I don't anticipate going up into Naked Bay, kind of gun shy of shallow water. We spend a lot of time at Munchies.

Great to hear!
We head to munchies a few times over the summer. The group usually meet up with try to tuck in by the canal but who knows about this year. May be the last year for us at bare naked as well. I welcome the lower water but not to the point that it keeps us away from bays. We’ll see how it goes. Hopefully we’ll catch up sometime down the road. Have a great season.
Cheers

Just talking to a friend in Ontario with a boat. With their lockdown over covid they are allowed to put it in the water but can only visit it for 30 minutes on any given day...can’t sleep on it. Lockdown is scheduled to be lifted after their long weekend in May....

This is obviously science and data.

Beat me to it...

Makes no sense at all. Spring prep time at marina's is not a risky proposition. I think they are trying to be consistent with lockdowns impacting others. They don't want the public perception to be that the wealthy get to play with their toys while retail, restaurants and bars are closed down or restricted. That would be the first article the Toronto Star would write if they opened marina's up.

I think I need to take the week after our long weekend off to get caught up. The weather is FINALLY supposed to return to closer to normal temps that week too. May has been a disaster weather-wise. Is it my imagination or have there been a lot fewer tornadoes this spring in the US? Maybe a side-benefit of a cool spring?

Shoot, there was snow south and west of Chicago Saturday night...

Yeah. Screw all the hard working marina employees. They don't need the work.

But but we don’t wanna kill grandma so we quarantine everyone instead of just the vulnerable. Makes total lefty sense.
You must really hate your grandma. I am not a lefty, but I have always been OK with protecting the vulnerable.

We were supposed to get frost here in Toronto area the past two nights. It didn't happen but it was pretty cold first thing this AM at 39F. Warmed up a bit but even mid afternoon it was only 58 in the back yard. The pool heat is not on yet, but its still holding at only 51F. As cheap as natural gas is these days, I am not going to try to get it up to swimming temps until the night time temps are warmer.

All indications are lockdown will be extended to June 01 in Ontario...coupled with the low water in the 1000 Islands, border closure, it will be not be an optimal season.

and you don't want to talk to anyone because you're busy
Exactly. While I am new to boating...I am not new to being an introvert :)

This weekend, I had just successfully docked my boat for the first time....ever...and while it was a breeze I had lingering stress. Get off of the boat and start tying it up and the slip neighbor comes over to introduce himself. 45 minutes later I was able to get back to adjusting fenders....

Nice fella and all...but I may be in the minority that goes to my boat to be alone...or at least less around phones and people and putting on my fake smile...

ok, back to Bumbu :)
