Is there some other application one can download to get "Active Captain" to work on an ITouch or IPhone. It comes up saying I need FlashPlayer, but it will not install it , States not available for this device.

Thanks

I found out how to use with my ITouch and IPhone with the Charts & Tides by Navimatics.

1. You have to have purchased, downloaded and installed Charts & Tides by Navimatics to your Itouch/IPhone.

2. Be Registered at ActiveCaptian

3. Open the Charts & Tides by Navimatics application on your ITouch/IPhone.

4. On the main page look in the lower right for the small italic i symbol. I would recommend here you already have a WiFi connection active.

5. On the next screen which comes up select Settings.

6. On this page look at the bottom for the "ActiveCaptian Box, click on it and then follow the prompts to load the "The Interactive Cruising Guide. (Mind took less then ten minutes to download)

It didn't take anywhere near 30 minutes for me, either.

I do have one small issue - the little red markers (that represent POIs) are very hard to select with my fingers (which really aren't very fat). Any one else have the same issue?

This is great Mike. Travel safe. It's fun to be sitting at my desk, have your blogspot site up and when you post a live video have it start up live. It's like a boat ride during the work day. I just wish they lasted longer, but I understand you probably don't want to hold your cell phone up for an hour.

Turtle,

Sweet sounding CAT's. Man I love that purrrrrrr.

If you find the time, is there any kind of identification on that generator sound enclosure cover. I would love to find one of those and throw it over mine?

Safe travels.

hello turtle toad

just tuned in

were you on the ICW, just below Charleston last night , 730-ish chugging along with a camper canvas and some goofy name with a dinghy on back?

looked like you were on Herb Griswald vacation.

i was coming from charleston headed home in a center console, accidentally hauling butt towards you. I saw a sea ray limping along ( just like you did in the volvo ocean) , then saw it was a 45, a camper with dinghy and thought it might be the dingbat himself

thought for sure though you would have left 1.5 mnths ago.

if you safe travels, if not, how be it going?

Uncle Buck, I was looking for you every day on my way up. I was the one that toilet papered your house yesterday.

In NC tonight. Got hit by more freak weather.

I'll take a look at my gen enclosure. It's a "sound blanket" velcro's together. Not as good as a sound shield box, but does dampen the sound considerably.

Mike, I am really enjoying your Gitana (Spanish Gypsy) Blog... I liked your 45 so much I checked out how much they were on boats.com... There is 1997 45 DA for sale in Madisonville, LA for $80K... Needs some engine work but looks good... Seems to me the cost is more in the operation and maintenance than buying the boat... Maybe some day, untill then I will follow you up the coast... btw... If you stay at my house I can arrange for home heating oil delivery to fill your boat up... It would save you a lot of money...

I'm burning about 22gph, not much more than my 280... But I'm paying anywhere between .50-.90 cents less a gallon. It's the "double everything" like heads, ac, dockage, that adds up. This boat is great, but it's a 96' so things need to be attended to. We completely love it, this boat is everything we wanted. It's a lot of work, I'm not going to blow smoke up your butt, it takes 3 times as long to clean, but man do we love it. If I could quit work and live on the boat, I would.

So far, the boat shrank 10' on this trip. What seemed like an aircraft carrier when I bought it, seems more like a big big 280. Seriously, this boat is 10 times easier to handle than my 280. In fact, she's easier to handle than my dinghy. No joke.

The videos from today didn't fully upload because of crappy cell service, they should be up now.

Clark Griswold. Clark. Don't disrespect the greatest American hero...

Turtle,

Thanks for the videos. You've been in our neck of the woods the last couple of days. That stretch of the Waccamaw you showed I still love to see each time, and seeing it from your boat was great.

I complained about that too and we decided to see what other people thought. There have been a good number of complaints. The "window" is being opened and an update is coming in a couple of days (you won't have to re-download the database again).

There's also a small bug with the tapping right now that will also go away. By mistake, the hotpoint for the marker is the little pointer in the bottom and not the center of the icon. So if you aim for the pointy part of the symbol now, you'll have a better shot at hitting it. When the update comes, stop doing that and aim for the middle.

If you have questions, I'd be happy to help - post here or send me a PM.

Also, please review the app! Others are waiting to see if it really works.

Your May 10th blog entry talks about the dolphins and wanting to swim with them. I jump in with them all the time, have never touched one but they wont hurt you. However, 2 years ago about a mile offshore Gulf Shores Alabama in 12 ft of water, we were in a huge pod of dolphins and I noticed there were the normal ones and a large number of larger black ones. I was determined to actually touch one this time, so as one of the big black ones swam under the boat, I dove off the bridge thinking I might touch him with an aeriel assault--still missed. Later found out the black ones were a subspecies of killer whales that for some weird reason were in the warm gulf waters that summer. Looking back, if I had been successful, he might have had a problem with that and as you said, "bit my face off"

+1 To whoever said that Turtle should change his name to Rabbit.

Turtle, you are making amazing headway. Hope you guys are enjoying your awesome adventure, I'm envious. How many days did you plan for your cruise home and how close are you staying to that schedule.

You've posted quite a few videos but it looks like the old ones are disappearing. Hopefully, you have the ability to archive all of them online. It's a great story to tell.

From a learning standpoint, the most recent one with the GPS Chartplotter showing you out of the channel but the camera showing you between the channel markers, really stands out. I know some folks who rely too much on their chartplotter and would like to show them that video.
