Well guys, it's time to head north. We are leaving Sat morning from Fort Lauderdale cruising up the ICW all the way to Norfolk VA. At that point we will take the outside up to NJ, then to NY, then to CT. Roughly 1400 miles in total.

We've spent 3 months (every couple of weeks) in FL getting the boat ready for the trip and equipping her with all of the (hopefully) spares and tools we'll need. Trying to learn as much about her systems as i can and spending time learning how she handles etc... I've been spending most of my time mapping out the route and gathering information for the trip.
here's the google maps route on the inside.

I have no idea how long we are going to take as a lot depends on weather, mechanical, construction, shoaling, and just plain enjoying. We gave ourselves 10 straight days of cruising and at that point we'll see where we are. Stressing on getting her home in a fixed time was just an impossible task, so we decided to take it as it comes.

I'm very confident about the boat and her ability to make the trip. With the AWESOME help of some friends, I feel she's ready, willing and able. Me on the other hand... we'll see.

From mapping it out, most nights will be at marina's, but we hope to anchor out a few nights.

So follow, help, join.

Here's the blog that will have live video (if cell service is available) and posts and video. I'll also be putting up video on the CSR youtube channel that you can find to the right of the forum.

Cool, thanks for posting can't wait to follow your adventure. We want to see all the details including pictures of people reusing the doggy bags(grin).

Good timing....get her outta there before huricane season! Look forward to the Turtle Chronicles....Will Pigdog make the voyage?

Good luck on the trip!

Sounds good...We'll be watching.

That's awsome, Mike!

Stay relaxed and engoy every minute of the trip. You have all the tools you need to get her home safe. So, I'll just wish that weather cooperates with you and you have enough water under the keel and you'll take care of the rest. You're the Captain and you know what you're doing. I'll be looking forward to read your updates.

Cheers,
Alex.

What a trip!! Good luck!!! I'll be following your adventure from here...

Have a safe trip Mike. I’m looking forward to following your blog.

Mike

Just your luck that the price of fuel has gone up in the past few weeks. :smt013

I have a good friend that has his captains license. 2 years ago he brought a brand new 57 Marlow up from Florida. (Departed on the Gulf coast but he needed to head down to Key Largo to get over the Atlantic, apparantly Lake Okeechoebee wasnt deep enough.) Took him about 2 weeks running 8 hours a day. Total cost for fuel and marinas was about $30,000. He ran the boat on plane most of the time on the outside.

Hopefully your bill won't be anything near that, but you might be anchoring more than you know. :smt001

I look forward to following the blog

Good luck!

Vince
