I dont think anyone here would ever take rape lightly at all, and you may be mis-interpreting the lightness.

I am so sorry that this happened to your wife, but Im not about to worry that some guy leering at my wife's breasts is going to rape her. Guys leer and make comments all day long at women, and do it throughout a lifetime. I myself have perhaps made a comment or two, or leered at a woman at a bar in the past.

All women should take care, all men should be ready to protect their women, but living in fear, imo, is not a way to live.

Hi Wayne,

I am very sorry for the rape and loss of your wife.

You are not the only one here that has lost a loved one.

I lost a son in 1999. He died in my arms. I don’t think I ever mentioned it on here before now. I’m sure others here have lost people as well.

I am not going to go into the details about it here nor do I wish to compare the two as if it’s some sort of contest about whose loss is worse.

As Bill said, lightening up the mood does not mean we are condoning rape. I am against rape.

If I continued in the mental state that I was in when my son finally passed away after I was awake for about 70 hours I would not be here to care for our three living children.

Now I am being completely serious when I suggest you get some grief counseling.

If one type does not work for you, try another.

Personally I found 1 on 1 with a professional to do no good at all, I actually found it to be insulting. Discussing with a group of peers that also went thru a loss like ours did a world of good to me. I learned a lot including the knowledge that the thoughts running thru my head were normal and shared by others who had went thru a similar loss.

Wayne, I know most of us are goofballs here, but the seriousness of your experience is not lost in the jest. I (and im sure EVERYONE here) is very sorry and feel for you.

As was said, we have all lost loved ones, or most of us have. My father was killed in the line of duty (Suffolk police) when I was 7. Shot through the chest, he died on the way to the hospital. I can STILL hear my mother screaming and picture her breaking down in the driveway as the officers came to break the news to her. I blank out after that, and have no recollections of the funeral or anything.

But we go on. I dont fear guns, I dont fear I may get shot...you just cant live like that.

Well a dilemma! I would say approach with caution. I do not know either one of you, but there are two sides to every coin.

And not to stir up any issues here, but is what your girl friend told you, actually the whole truth, or a generalization of what may have been stated or not stated?

My first wife would often state something as fact which in reality never happened. :huh:

Like I said a dilemma, suppose you approach Captain Joe on the side and he denies it ever happened then what?

I believe I would just continue on for a while, but being watchful and observant. If it happened this one time it will happen again.
