It is not our fault that Wayne decided to take an inane subject about a disrespectful dockmate and turn it into a possible rape scene. I was actually flabbergasted that he participated in that capacity. OF COURSE WE ARE ALL UPSET AND BESIDE OURSELVES what happened to Wayne's wife, and feel HORRIBLE about it. How many threads shall we police to be sure we are sensitive to posters? Hey, Im sensitive to religion, shall I now leave because I dont want to frikkin hear about church or god?

Im not apologizing for any posts I have made. If someone is that sensitive to a subject, they can just not participate in the conversation on a bulletin board where you have a choice not to read it or not.

Wayne, I am terribly sorry for your loss, and ONLY wish you can find happiness and courage to go on with life.

I feel terrible for Wayne, he’s obviously hurting, and this is one of those threads that after advice is given it goes into joke mode with multiple conversations going on.
 
Wayne's World's posts tended to pick and not participate in our community. He was and has been on the board for over 3 months and claimed to have a Sea Ray, yet never joined or showed his boat. It makes him subject to question if he was not just a troll out to make mischief. If you review his posts like "Why are Sea Ray owners snobs" it seems he had lot of criticisms and not much positive to say. If it is true what he said then I would truly be sorry for his loss. However his vitriol behavior in this thread is not acceptable nor is his condemnation of everyone here who participated. :smt024

Rich you're wrong on this one. Yes, Wayne can have a sensitive tone sometimes, but I've seen him on the baylinerownersclub.org forum where he started. He came here after he bought his older 300DA. (I belong there because I have local friends on there). Anyway, Wayne seems to be a decent enough guy that would do anything for a true friend, but can get his feathers ruffled easily. I can't blame some of his points of view knowing what he's gone through. He's PM'd me his terrible story about 9 months ago on the BOC site and knowing that I can empathize. I think his reaction for this Show me your boobs thread was his way of making those involved take it seriously. If anyone of us lost our Admirals as he did, we'd all be out of out F'n minds. The lack of sensitivity and for those that passed up his posts with another booby sneer or joke were being rude at best.

It's sad that Jim just pulled the trigger (even though he asked for it) rather that look into maybe why. Hey, I know Jim shouldn't have to be the babysitter to all of us, but as you and Wesley(and Jim) know sometimes there is more behind the text than it first appears.

Anyway, thought I'd throw in my $.02.

The problem is, in this particular thread, Wayne went (understandably) off the handle at guys who were simply talking about boobs. I, and others, knew nothing about the tragedy he had experienced. If he had added a link to the hand gun thread, I'm sure people would have understood his point of view better. I had to go back, and realize my oops, but the fact remains, this thread had light banter about boobs until Wayne (and again I say understandably) got upset.

For 4 pages we joked around about our wives flashing boobs, giving responses like tell your wife to actually flash him in front of his wife, all sorts of sexual innuendo etc etc...
Then Wayne comes in on page 4.5 and screams thats how rapists are born, call everyone a retard, and asks to have his membership revoked.
By then we were onto frikkin binary code and an occasional man boob and sporadic breast references.
Waye turned this from an innane post about what you would do if someone asked to see your wife's breasts into an Oprah show about how every person that looks at breasts, thinks about breasts or makes comments about breasts is a rapist.

Im sorry, and I cant believe I have to say this yet again, but I am HORRIFIED about what happened to Wayne.

But Wayne has the choice or not to come in halfway through a thread and continue to read and post or ignore it.

This is a great forum and like all forums some people (1 or 2) will take poor jokes too far. I understand this, maybe Wayne didnt, but then again Im not in Waynes shoes.

Here's your break. I'm saying that this whole thing (thread) had two sides. There were many(not including me) that followed the handgun thread that learned of his tragedy. He (Wayne)didn't handle it well, because few picked up on his point, since it was elsewhere, but when he turned the thread to make his point about rape, most of the contributors to this thread ran right by it continuing the jokes.

Yeah, I can't imagine his pain on a daily basis, but don't tell us that can see the BS side of this thread as not having testoterone. But looking at a sexy woman vs. one being inappropriately advanced on is a HUGE difference.

Think about it. This whole thread went sideways and to the one it meant the most, Wayne, wasn't getting through.

I've just been reading this for the past few days, not responding, since it seems like there were plenty of good input (and some not contributing so much).

I hadn't read the handgun note till it was pointed out (at the time, it hadn't been of interest to me), so I went and read it. Wow.

To me, just observing Wayne's reaction to things, and what he's been through, I can understand why he is reacting the way he did. The guy has some serious pain to work through. That won't come easy. To say it sucks what happened to him is an understatement.

This thread has come up with plenty of options for the OP, it should be left as is... New Thread anyone?

Nothing good ever came from posting personal information about family members or loved ones on an internet forum. Wayne's story, true or not, has no business here. We all have had our share of losses or tragedy. Post them for public consumption and you've disrespected their memory. Don't expect strangers to hold them with the same reverence that you do.
 
Guys... Stop beating each other up here. No one intended to offend Wayne. Understandably, this is a touchy subject for him, but no one responded to any of his comments in anything less than a compassionate way until after he started calling people retards. I can understand why the topic of the little side conversation that was going on upset him, but to ask a bunch of guys to never look at, comment about, or hit on a woman ever again because one man's wife got raped and murdered is just not reasonable.

I have all the sympathy in the world for Wayne. I think that he needed to step back for a minute and realize that all men hit on women as part of who we are. Not all of us are (or will be) rapists because we hit on women. We are just men. I think Wayne was being a little unreasonable when the entire thread didn't stop just because he made his point.

So Wayne comes in halfway through, decides its time for a rape discussion in a thread that had nothing to do with rape, and now everyone should just not post anything anymore along the lines of what we were posting.

I didnt need a frikkin education about rape in this topic. I dont need it in any other topic other than if the thread was about rape, or it was fine when it happened organically in a thread that had to do with handguns and WHY you would need to protect someone, or similar topics that it belongs.

This posting session by Wayne was NOT organic. It had NOTHING to do with the subject at hand. Wayne decided we needed to be told that the next step of a guy checking out boobs is rape. I wanst going there. Yea, I dismissed it because frankly it was completely out of left field.

SO now every thread has to be diagnosed? What if we start posting up pictures in a thread about hot women? If Wayne decides to come in about rape again, shall we just stop because Wayne came in again?

Had Wayne made the post right away, I would have not bothered coming back to the thread and posting anything. To come in halfway through, after we are all already in a conversation and having fun, then try and bring it all down with irrational fears about guys looking at boobs turning into rapists, to me is asinine.
