CSR Northeast Flotilla 2016

Jeremy,

Where would you say we could utilize (in VH and/or Hyannis) a park for activities like a soccer game? It would be nice to have it on our plan in case of not swimming weather.

I am not sure of one in VH but I could probably ask around to see if anyone knows of one there.
There is a great park near the ferry terminal in OB. It looks out over a bluff at Nantucket bay, great views It gets busy at times but shouldn't be that bad during the week while the flotilla is at the island. It isn't completely flat but should be good for a friendly game of soccer

In Hyannis there is a nice spot on the harbor right behind the boat museum. It isn't a huge spot and it has been a while since I have looked at it but they do small concerts there so should be big enough for a soccer game.

Hey guys. Carol and I would like to include ourselves for this years trip, at least part of it. We will be in for the Shelter Isl and MV part. After that we may head to Nantucket or our favorite stop, Block Isl. Our boat is Harmony, a 2005 42 Sundancer. Looking forward to getting to know everyone better!

Also, do any of you do the MarineMax/Searay rendezvous? It's August 12-14 in Montauk this year. Any input you guys have on it would be appreciated.

Hey Bob, welcome aboard!

I added you to the list of participants on the first page. Are you traveling from Hudson River area?

I never did MarineMax rendezvous, maybe others will chime in with some info.

Thanks for your feedback, Jeremy.

It sounds like Hyannis might be the preferred choice. I’m not sure the group would want to schlep all the way to OB for a soccer game.

So far we have:

Maritime trail dinghy exploration – Coecles Harbor
Biking group tour - MV
Dinghy poker run – Hyannis or MV
Any other ideas are welcomed.

Do we have enough paddleboards to have kids racing competition? I know Joe has one and I carry two Larry’s boards. Ross has at least one.
Anyone else has them?

Congrats Joe. Martha mentioned it at the rendezvous. Very exciting. Let's hope she's early.

Both dinghy exploration and bike riding sound great. Of course, I'm a bit concerned about the little ones. Basically, for me there is no set pace that's attainable. I have girls, there is always drama. That being said. We'd vote for it.

If you don't mind me asking how old are they? Still trying to decide on bringing my (gunna be 2.5 at the time)baby girl. Really don't want to not be with her for 12 days but I dunno how she will do for that long of a period at sea

We have girls too. I know the drama well. Mine are 7 and 9. We are only going to the SI part of the trip, but hopefully they can play together and keep themeselves entertained.

BTW - I, too, am curious about the dinghy trail. Never heard of it.

Alex,
Dingy trail at Coecles harbor sounds cool. I'm in.

That's great!

We need to have our kids study the map and take the lead on exportation. It should be fun for all.

Thanks Alex. Yes, we will be traveling from Jersey City so maybe some of us can travel together to SI.

We have Dale and Greg coming from the same direction, so you'll have a chance to follow them.

Hey Bob was very nice meeting you at Port jeff. I know it's a while away but I'm starting to plan my days off and thinking about my float plan. Trying to decide on leaving Fri or Sat am. You have two options of North or south shore. Do u know what you will be taking? That's a group leaving from both shores. I'll b leaving from the south shore just west of fire island inlet. I'll most likely be running inside unless majority rules out. I'll probably be with 3 maybe 6 boats If we meet the second south shore group. Do you have any thoughts yet?

We have no plans yet but usually run on the North side. Would be great to do the South side, especially on the inside. Maybe we could run to Fire Island on Friday (always wanted to check it out) and then leave Sat morning from there.

Jon,

I'm going to run to Shelter island on Friday. If the tides & conditions work, I'll head out Moriches inlet and come back in at Shinnecock. Otherwise I will be staying inside as well.

Yeah like I said mine is going to be 2 during the trip. As much as I want her by my side to experience it I don't know how she will do on an 8 hour cruise esp if it gets rough. Will c how she does this summer on shorter trips

That sounds like a nice idea. I'm 30 minutes to fire island. Whatever you decide your more then welcome to join

Our usual plan is to run all the way to Shelter Island on Friday, leaving Jones Inlet in the morning and re-entering Shinnecock Inlet, provided the seas and weather cooperate. Ron and Wendy are usually running with us (or ahead of us as their cruise speed is higher than ours). Anyone else who wishes to tag along is more than welcome to.

Anyone else has paddleboards?
