CSR Northeast Flotilla 2015

Do you think anybody will b rating up at shelter? If I do decide to join i will be rafting in all destinations and mooring at the second. I think I remember hearing mooring balls are first come first serve at Newport? What are the chances of grabbing one and are you aloud 2 boats to a ball? Anybody have a price for mooring? Again I apologize if this was discussed already

All good questions Jonathan, no apologies needed.

We have number of boats that would prefer to raft (myself included). However, in order for us to use the marina facilities for the feast and other activities, we need to take at least 12 of 20 slips. While we have only 12 boats on the list of participants for now, we're putting ourselves on the list to be in the marina. As more people join, some boats will be happy to release their slips. I looked at the last year records and in mid April, there was not a single slip available for that weekend. We had them all with bunch of boats in the raft. If the trend remains the same, then I think there will be plenty of company in the raft.

Mooring in Newport is FCFS. You can't just grab it, they have to be assigned when you call in. I'm thinking that it will be tight since we're arriving on Mon, just after the festival. The price is $45 for <50' and $60 >50'. I spoke with the harbor master and was told that rafting in anchorage is limited to only TWO BOATS. The problem with that is that someone is also required to be on board all the time, for rafted boats. I've heard that there are some moorings where you can raft, but I wouldn't count on it too much.

In newport you could try whitecloud moorings too 401-5287-2754. I believe he has the "dock" style moorings in Bretton cove that can fit multiple boats and may take reservations too - im not completely sure though

Ok cool if I do join it will be later on in the summer. I have a lot of Crap going on that shouldn't be so I'm in the process of working that out and when everything comes to ill make a decision I'll be paying more attention tho

Hope you can make it!

We are looking forward to the trip. I just sent my request in online to reserve a slip at Newport harbor hotel. We will be arriving there on Saturday so if there is anything we can do to help prepare for the group to arrive please let me know. Alex, does the dock master already know about the flotilla? I am going to call tomorrow to confirm my reservation, if they know about it I will mention it when I call and ask to get everyone together if possible. We are planning on rafting in E. Greenwich and Block but as a back up for bad weather we may make a reservation in E. Greenwich. For the people that know about that area is there a preferred marina in E. Greenwich that I should look into? I looked at E. Greenwich marina briefly online and it looked nice. $3ft dock fee isn't bad either.

Hi Guys,

we are in for Block Island for sure. We have done Champlins many times and are wondering possibly about changing to the Basin area, does anyone have any info on it? We should have our dink in proper towing / hauling and running order and Bristol fashion so we will be happy to cruise the great salt pond to EXCESS this year LOL. Come on ICE OUT!

Jeremy, I did speak to Heather at NHHM and will follow up with an email either tonight or tomorrow AM. So, feel free to call and it's a good idea to tell them to keep "Club Sea Ray Flotilla" boats together.

I know the best answer is to man up and buy a diesel boat which is in the works for the future but for now I am dealing with what I have to work with. (Mike we have our eye on the 48 Sundancer as an upgrade so maybe a tour would be possible?)
Of course! The only problem is you are going to be on a mission to get one after you see it. The 2005-2006 48DA is the best value in boating. If you want to see a guy who just spent over a million bucks on a 50' cruiser try to justify spending 4x what you will on an equally eye catching yacht that does everything his does, then get a 2005-2006 48DA. They are at the bottom of the depreciation curve and built to last.

Anywhere in Newport is fine with us. We wanted to go to the hotel last year, but it was booked. Newport Marina was no boobie prize.

Guys, here's the list of boats I'll be sending to NHHM. If any corrections needs to be made, please let me know.

Here's the updated spreadsheet on docking arrangement in all ports:

Alex,

Here is the rest of our specs: Length 40', Beam 13', Draft 3' 3", Electric 2 x 30 amp/120v

(I used 40' for the internet reservation I just sent in, but with the pulpit and platform she is listed in SR spec sheet as 45'.)

I hear you, Harold. But, I won't post my actual LOA, you'll be surprised.........shhhhh....it's just a 42'er.

Guys,

I just sent the list of boats I posted earlier to NHHM dockmaster. Please contact the marina directly. You'll need to fill their contract, which will be responsibility of individual captain.

My thoughts exactly!

Mike, thanks and I am sure you are right that's why I want to get my wife on it. I was thinking bridge boat but my wife gets a little sea sick when we roll around a lot so I am not sure being higher up on a bridge is a good idea. Plus on the 48 I love the openness of the cockpit, the platform lift is a must as well as a real second stateroom. Seems like it has everything I am looking for.

I noticed you had the sales@ email on the contact info - if you use the HHurley@ email it will get to her directly.....

Marianne,

Welcome aboard. Great to see you as well in the sunshine state. Glad you could join the Flotilla. Let me know your docking arrangements, once you have them established.

Folks,
Just wanted to let you know that both dockmasters (in IBM and NHHM) are ready to take your reservations.

P.S.
I've updated the first page with all the info I currently have. If any corrections are needed, please let me know.

You'll have to pry her from my cold dead hands.

She's a good second to my wife.
