CSR Northeast Flotilla 2013

I'm getting special kids trainer skis. Should I bring big skis for adults?

Only if they're trainer skis also. I've never skied before.

Too bad the anchorage area in Block is far away, we could have rafted there as well. You're right though, there are enough options that it will work out one way or another.

Having a picnic style table of the gods on the beach sounds good to me. I wonder if I can run the slushy machine on the dinghy with the inverter?

Water skiing is a lot of fun. I wonder if your dinghy will pull it. If not we'll have to work on the jetski to make the trip. We'll need to brainstorm few options on this.

Slushy machine, ahhhh ....our favorite. If anyone has small portable genny (honda?) we could use that or worst case scenario we'll just prep the drinks and have a "booze barge" dedicated dinghy deliver it.

Just Bring the 20 5 gal jerry cans left over from Sandy...........

Lol those we re used a long time ago.

Ok all sounds great now I just have to go out and buy a dingy. Oh yea and a boat.

Yo guys are expensive friends.

Anybody want a mooring buddy. I promise ill behave

Looks like we have 4 strong votes so far (I'm sure that Greg and I are good for any itinerary). I don't know what happened here, but LI guys are spearheading this time. Where's our CT and upstate NY gang?

Alright Alex,

I'm hesitant to do this for fear of inviting another disaster to my life that will ultimately prevent my attendance but, add me to the list. Sherri has given me the ok to join in (it took a little arm twisting though due to Justin's BD on 8/3 & our anniversary on 8/11). She will put in for the time off this week. You know my particulars!

yay!!!!!!!!!!:smt038

Anyone interested in the Westhampton stop let me know. I will probably be traveling inside to ease my wife's anxiety unless the bay is full of debris. I may leave on Friday instead of Thursday as I don't want to be on the hook for 2 nights. My boat gets awfully small with all of us trapped on it for long periods! LOL
I will also be heading to Greenport following Newport.

ALEX,

I would also prefer 3 nights in Block Island if we can make that happen.

Oh boy a generator for slushys and a tod? What will we come up with next? Hey tod if you leave friday are you till going to west hampton? I think we are all planning on leaving fri morning. If there calling for big seas I will be running inside. If flat I will be leaving jones inlet. Im planning on meeting up with ron and whoever else is on the south shore. Hey joe are you going through fi or jones inlet ?
Ron
Are the voyagers attending?

X,
Yes, I plan on the first night being in West Hampton. Then Sat am to SI to meet up with Alex & Greg. Stay on the hook Sat night (hopefully rafted with Alex - since I don't currently have an anchor- and also plugged into his boat so I don't have to worry about CO fumes with my Genny) then off to Block on Sunday.

Ohhh I def misunderstood the dates. I thought we were meeting at si fri night and going to block sat. Whoa good thing I got that cleared up. But ill just go with the flow if theres people at si fri night ill go there if not westhampton it is. Dont worry you can tie up to me :smt101 . Stupid question. How would you use somone elses genny to power your boatt? Again im new to this big boat thing so be nice.

I have a 15 amp/30 amp adapter that plugs into a regular outlet and hooks up to my shore power plug. Hooking up to your boat is no better than mine because we both have gas gennys & have CO concerns.

Ahhh tusche. I have one of those adapters to to plug into my friends house on fi. I was talking about anchoring wise to hook up to me.

You just plug it into a regular outlet on the boat with the Genny running. Same as your friends house on FI!

Todd, the plan states SI on Friday (raft up) then to BI on Sat. If you leave Friday morning we'll meet up and run with you.
If the oceans flat would you consider running on the outside?

Joe,

I believe August 3rd is a Saturday & the dates for this were 8/3-8/11 with the latter being a Sunday. I am flexible on departure. I also remember a reference to landing in Block Island on a Sunday so that Greg, Steve & Alex have a better chance of getting one of the big mooring balls. I think Alex is planning 2 nights on the hook in SI. I will read through this thread again. As I stated before, I'd rather spend a night in West Hampton than 2 on the hook. I don't think my family/boat are a good combination for 2 nights anchored!

As far as running outside, I will definitely consider it if it's calm. I have no worries, it's my wife! I don't want her to soil herself in the first day! I'm more concerned with the leg between BI-Newport- Greenport. BTW- How do you feel about stopping at Greenport on the way back?

Todd, see my post above yours, anyway what's in West Hampton? I will def consider stopping in Greenport on the trip home.
when I picked my boat up it was in Newport I ran to Shinnecock. In 3'-4' seas not so much fun but tollerable. I don't believe we would travel in those conditions if not needed, with your boat you should make it in just about 1 1/2 or less.

Oh man, how much do you believe in coincidence? I put up an updated spreadsheet with new voter named "If I were going", 20 min later I get these news from you. Wow.....I must have picked a good name....

I'm really glad you both decided to do the trip, which obviously is way over due for your crew. Good job my friend. Now we have more reasons to celebrate b-day, anniversary...good deal.

I'm almost positive that for the most part the bay (at least ICW) should be fine by the time August rolls around.

IMO, 3 nights in Block is minimum, but in order to heat other ports we can't stay much longer there.
