CSR Northeast Flotilla 2013

Todd, see my post above yours, anyway what's in West Hampton? I will def consider stopping in Greenport on the trip home.
when I picked my boat up it was in Newport I ran to Shinnecock. In 3'-4' seas not so much fun but tollerable. I don't believe we would travel in those conditions if not needed, with your boat you should make it in just about 1 1/2 or less.

Yeah I saw it after I typed put my response. I had to stoke the fire & get the kids vitamins while I was responding! I saw that you guys snuck in 2 posts meantime!
As far as West Hampton goes, Alex said its a great stop to dock and take the family out to dinner in town. It's less that 2 hours from my marina so I thought it was a good start for my neophyte crew. Again, I am flexible. We can talk. I'd love to get you, Jon & Ron to go with me! Think about it!!

Oh man, how much do you believe in coincidence? I put up an updated spreadsheet with new voter named "If I were going", 20 min later I get these news from you. Wow.....I must have picked a good name....

I'm really glad you both decided to do the trip, which obviously is way over due for your crew. Good job my friend. Now we have more reasons to celebrate b-day, anniversary...good deal.

That is funny!! Now let's hope I can buck the trend of the last 2 years & nothing will come up to Kibosh my plans!! Third times a charm, right? Lol

Welli checked the weather for the trip everyday shows sunny and 87. No wind and seas are less than 1 foot. Alex you choose a perfect week. Well goodnight all work in the am. Gotta work the to to pay for all this fuel.

Alright Alex,

I'm hesitant to do this for fear of inviting another disaster to my life that will ultimately prevent my attendance but, add me to the list. Sherri has given me the ok to join in (it took a little arm twisting though due to Justin's BD on 8/3 & our anniversary on 8/11). She will put in for the time off this week. You know my particulars! 

Excellent!

Anyone interested in the Westhampton stop let me know. I will probably be traveling inside to ease my wife's anxiety unless the bay is full of debris. I may leave on Friday instead of Thursday as I don't want to be on the hook for 2 nights. My boat gets awfully small with all of us trapped on it for long periods! LOL
I will also be heading to Greenport following Newport.

ALEX,

I would also prefer 3 nights in Block Island if we can make that happen.

3 nights on block works for me too.....

Hey guys, there seams to be some confusion with the dates, but if you recall this is what I had on the first page:

Date: August 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] – August 11[SUP]th[/SUP]. If you guys prefer we can start the raft at Shelter Island on Aug 2nd (Friday) and head to port #2 on Saturday.

I picked the original dates with intention of starting and ending the flotilla on the weekend (I wasn't sure who can take Friday Aug 2nd off). However, those who can make it, we'll be in SI waiting for your arrival Friday afternoon. Anyway, to clarify few things here's a quick summary of a Float Plan for the proposed "Itinerary E". Oops, I just saw a small typo in the heading (8/3-8/12). I'll be changing it to 8/3-8/11.

Oh boy a generator for slushys and a tod? What will we come up with next? Hey tod if you leave friday are you till going to west hampton? I think we are all planning on leaving fri morning. If there calling for big seas I will be running inside. If flat I will be leaving jones inlet. Im planning on meeting up with ron and whoever else is on the south shore. Hey joe are you going through fi or jones inlet ?
Ron
Are the voyagers attending?

Jon,
I think so.

Mike was very interested when we spoke about it.

For the skiiers, I used to work for O'Brien, so i have skis, wakeboard vests... lots of goodies, just no space! If there is water sports on the agenda, will figure how to bring the stuff.

We're in!, although I am thoroughly confused

Ron,

My basic idea about this stop was to help build a comfortable cruise for Todd's trip Eastbound. I did this myself on my 320 and we liked it very much. Between GSB and SI this is a nice way to break up the trip, especially for a crew that is not used to take long trips. West Hampton is a cute and cozy little town with several good restaurants and cafe for breakfast (I think "post cafe" is the famous place). If you get there not too late, the beach is just across the bridge. So, all in all it's pretty nice stop just for one night to time the tides and locks openings, if one cares for it.

The biggest thing behind my advice was that Todd needs to go on the inside regardless of the seas conditions in the ocean. You guys have to remember that this is his first time taking his crew on a long voyage. The last thing you want is to spoil it on the first leg by doing long, boring and bumpy ride in the ocean. We enjoyed the scenery and during long no wake zones we had meals, if the time coincided with our lunch.

If you guys can do this run together as a group it'll be a lot of fun for everyone.

Alex,

Looks like a winner to me, and the plan that we are aligned to.
For us the alternatives would be Fri Night in Westhampton [wanted to do that last year but never made it], and in case we dont make it to Newport, we would stay the extra 2 nights in Block and rejoin the flotilla en route to Greenport.
Thanks for being both Capt. Stubing and Julie McCoy...

Ron

Keep the spreadsheets coming in.

Alex, I want to travel with others my only problem is the waters between Moriches and Shinnecock are not friendly to me.
If someone has local knowledge of the area more than I do I'd love to hear from them .i don't mind slowing her down for a few hours as long as I'm surrounded by nice sights (also helping Todd out) lol

That's great Ron!! Now if we convince Joe & Jon we are golden! As far as running inside, that would be best for my wife but, if it's real calm I can slip her a xanax and head outside!!

Joe, no worries. We'll have plenty of time to do all necessary homework and get all the local knowledge for this leg. If it's not safe in any shape or form, I'm sure none of you will be going that way.

Joe,

I appreciate it brother! LOL I found a great website for local knowledge. BoaterzEd, the GSB group. They had all the info on the channels etc last season as several boaters had traversed back and forth and noted bouys and shallow water issues That helped me make my eventually useless plan last season.

Totally understand... After all, I'm the one with the little boat... As Joe mentioned, the skinny water is also a concern. We need to get some local talent... Todd, ping Paul [KemoSabe] and get him on the roster. He has done the inside passage many times.

Also, thought on fueling spot on way back...Newport - Greenport - 55 miles.. may want to make a pit stop in between and thoughts on best spot...Star Island?

I would look in to getting fuel at Newport. There are plenty of marinas and it'll save you good deal of time. We'll need to do some research and check the prices.

I think , because the trip has its own name maybe we shouldn't use "table of the gods" it's kinda the Jersey guys name.
We need our own name for our feast. Any ideas ? Alex will make a spreadsheet and the most votes win.
How about: montauk munch, picnic for punks, block island barf,Newport nausea? I have more........

Great idea, Joe. Let's get the ideas flowing.
