CSR Lake Erie Islands 2013 Rendezvous

Jim,

The ramp by marine max is pretty steep and I always had issues when trying to launch my 260. I tried it a couple if times and the angle of the ramp cAused the bow to catch on the trailer winch.

I always used Mazurik ramp over in Marblehead. Wide ramps and a gentle grade. Plus it's a straight shot to the Islands once you launch.

The question was asked about a start time for the sat pot luck. I'm thinking let's shoot for 1pm so those that would like to go over to the bay for the evening.

I second the 1 pm start. Will give the folks that are coming over Saturday a chance to get settled in.

On that note check is 11AM for the Marina.

Wow I really flubbed up on this one. I got the dates wrong in my head and thought I was going to be out of town this coming weekend. Today I figured out I could've made it. I'm cursing myself as this looks like a whole lot of fun.

Who all is arriving Saturday morning? I'm trying to put this trip together VERY last minute and I'm unfamiliar with the area so I was hoping to follow someone out to the island. Having a small boat I don't have the fancy electronics to help me out. :smt001

We're planning on making the run over Saturday morning (weather permitting). We'll be putting in at West Harbor right next Marine Max.

I would start by downloading some sort of marine navigation app to you smartphone so you have at least something to go by. Garmin bluechart maybe?

From your other thread it looks like you will most likely be solo so having someone to follow would be good. I would definitely get with Casey and see if you can meet him at the ramp by Marine Max. You should have no trouble there with your size boat. And hey maybe He'll give you a hand unloading.

Lake Erie is not to be messed with and you can get in trouble really fast. At a minimum go to http://marine.geogarage.com/ and familiarize yourself with the area.

If you have any questions don't hesitate asking. We are all here to help.

Newman,
If you have an iPad or smart phone, download the Active Captain app. It works great on my iPad and I have it as a back up for the GPS. I will be putting in around 1:00 - 2:00 on Friday if you can get away early. I am going to use the mazurik ramp on Marblehead which is just a few mile east of West Harbor.

well I'm hoping to stop and visit on Saturday but it's still looking very last minute. just to be crystal clear about it, I have no idea when I'm coming, or going. I don't know who all if anybody is coming with me. And I don't even know which boat I'll be driving over. if anybody thinks they'll need help launching or retrieving just give me a heads up as I'm 5 minutes away from the West Harbor ramp. I'd be happy to help anyone who needs it. now everyone pray for good weather!

Should probably refresh everyone that we are doing a potluck on Saturday at 1PM.

We will be bringing Greek salad for all and will have some brats and burgers for sharing. I also plan on bringing some charcoal. probably enough for two grills.

We definitely need to name this shindig as well. Those new Yorkers can have their table of the gods, but I doubt it will hold a candle to our "Potluck of the Walleyes"

Lol i agree we need to name the meal. any good ideas out there? im going to have rueben eggrols friday for orderves. lunch i have jambalya and a salad and a desert. looking forward to it. and headed out tomorrow!

we will be leaving saturday morning from east harbour we could meet you somewhere and follow us, but we dont move very fast

I have the paper plates, red solo cups and plastic silverware for the entire group... the best that Sam's club had to offer. Nothing but the very best paper and plastic quality for my Sea Ray friends ... :smt038 LOL. What VHF channel will everyone be on? I will need some help at the marina slip since I rarely slip my boat.

We are headed out of east harbor on saturday as well. Plan on leaving the slip at Marina Del Isle at 10am. Will be on channel 71. Vessel name is Opa.
