Boat Name?!?

The Admiral is a physician in her day job. But the key to the whole boat and name is that it incorporates her maiden name, Naughton. She got a little teary-eyed when I suggested the name.

The 340DA was “ Flipper” The 52DB is “Flipper II”. I used to watch reruns of the show Flipper when I was little and wished I was one of those boys. Also, I am in real estate and I flip houses.

Ours came with the name Miss Gnomer. Initially wanted to rip it off like an old bandaid but you know what they say.
Then there is the wife is 4'11 and doesn't like garden gnomes. Think she might have had some short jokes thrown at her over the years so it kind of amuses me to just keep it.

24 ft Bayliner was "KAREN B", 36 Marine Trader was "KAREN B II", first mate said no way to "III". When traveling to a beach either by car or by boat, she will always be looking for that keeper shell. And she ALWAYS finds a keeper shell! So "SHELL SEAKERS" was born.

If the sale goes thru on the one I am under contract on, after my less than favorable experience trying to buy the next boat, I plan to name it:

Meant To Be

My prior boats were always named after the Mrs: "Mrs. Robinson" and "Mrs. Robinson II". This started with my dads first oyster/crabbing work boat, which he named after my mom "Patti Mae".

One of my last boats was named "High Flyer" by the previous owner, he was a sky diver. I liked it so I kept it. Led to many interesting dock conversations on trips. Most thought is was weed/marijuana.

Prince William Marina?

Bacchus

Roman version of the Greek God Dionysus: god of the grape-harvest, winemaking and wine, of fertility, orchards and fruit, vegetation, insanity, ritual, festivity and theater.

Everything that is boating
And one of my favorite restaurants in Richmond: https://bacchusrva.com/

Surprisingly I get that a lot ….. this one time on B dock on the island these two characters stopped at the back of the boat and pointed, laughing their heads off. I was sitting right there. I said… Guys ..WTF is so funny ? They said you got weed in your name and 420…. 4/20 being pot day

what do you think of that pic supporting the story? :):cool:

First and Second Attempt the first two boats, Her Choice the third, This one was Named Presidential which for a 310Da. I thought that was a little over the top so I renamed her My Prerogative.

Steele'y Tutz

The money for the 300DA came from my wife's inheritance after her father passed. They are the Steele family and her father always called them the Steeley's. The father in law always called the mother in law Tutz. So we took the two and called the boat Steele'y Tutz.

The 1977 runabout is named Predicament II. Dad says every time he climbs on a boat, there is always a predicament that turns up. This coming from a man that spent many years riding on DDG's running tests on weapon systems. His baby was the design of the vertical launch system and guidance systems on the Tomahawk and Harpoon missiles.

I call the 23 Bay "Cognito" because "I'd rather be in cognito" Think bumper sticker.

The 440 is called The Office "tongue in cheek". We have several shops in our area east of Atlanta (laser/metal fab, injection molding, machinery division), we are always jumping around from one office to another during the week. So when I come over to spend time at the boat, I just tell everyone that I will be at our Savannah "Office" for the next XX days. The kids (son and 2 nephews) are good about not giving me a hard time, they know I'm available when needed and always have my laptop. Between those three and our two lead employees they are slowing pushing me into an advisory capacity in the company, "passive income". Which ain't bad I reckon, I'll hit 60 this year and it's good to have such ambitious hardworking young men around to take the load.
They may push me here full time, then it may become "Home Office".
