Boat Name?!?

What’s your boats name?

How did you pick it?

My folks never named their boat. Our boat wasn’t named when we got her.

My mind is spinning with options.

We named out boat Trevi,
It’s our puppy’s name, she was named for Trevi Fountain in Rome, all our dogs are named after our favorite Italian travel spots. Trevi means 3 in Italian and the 506 is our 3rd Yacht class boat. We have always named our boats something meaningful to our lives instead of some trite cliche as you see on many boats.

I go into it with the same logic as choosing a band name, or a kids' name

It has to be simple, easy, something I'm not gonna get tired of and also not embarrassing.

Personally I like song names.

All our boats were some form of Lady, last one was Sassy Lady. We got hooked on mini series Black Sails character Anne Bonny, hence Pirate Lady.
Horse racing forms are good place to get names, those horse owners can get creative.

‘Escape’. We like to get away from work and people.

When we were boat shopping we saw a sundancer 38 named “38 special”. Pretty cool and unique for a boat name.

because at one point in my life it was inconceivable that I would ever own a boat like this.

This subject comes up about once a year.

Ours started as joke when we bought it and got it on the trailer to bring home and I said "damn that's a big ass boat on that trailer".
My daughter said we should name it "Big Ass Boat", but as some others mentioned and as an ex Coastie, no way I was getting on the radio and saying that.
So we compromised on BABOAT our inside joke for Big Ass Boat On A Trailer

“The Wanderer” is the name on the boat in northern Michigan because my employer transferred me 6+ times.

F.I.N.A.O. Is the name on the Florida boat that is 6 miles south of Cape Canaveral. (Failure Is Not An Option)

That was my CB handle back in the 70's in Alaska because I grew up on Lake Huron and walked the beaches for hours looking for treasures.

Now we have a Boston Whaler we named Sunny Beach just cause.

When our 26 foot cabin cruiser was totaled in a storm I considered going without a boat for a few years because we couldn't find a good 26 foot boat to replace it. My wife really liked boating to Bristol, PA for lunch and bought this 20 foot cuddy so we could still make the trip. Since the primary purpose of this boat is to go to Bristol for lunch, we named the boat "Bristol Flyer".
