Glad you all had a great time... Sorry I couldn't be there!! Had the mechanic come over Saturday and confirm the bad news... The Gen III Cool Fuel Module needs to be replaced.. This is something that FrankW warned about over a year ago as something Mercruiser knew was a bad design and destined for failure on all boats with this module that is out in salt water. They came out with a new design in 2009 and their service bulletin was careful to say it was not a recall but a redesign. It will cost $1,200.00 to replace, and not only will I have to do the Starboard engine, but pretty soon the Port engine will have the same issue, so both need to be replaced. They are in such demand that there is a national backorder on the parts... Even though my boat is out of warranty, it's only been in salt water a short amount of time (came from Lake Cumberland in Kentucky, and then had it always in a mooring station with treated fresh water).. I'm going to ask nicely and then raise hell with Merc's customer service center tomorrow and see if they can at least give me the parts and I'll pay for the labor... Talk about being depressed this weekend!!

Love seeing the photos Randy, can't wait to hear all the stories and hear more!!

Barry - sorry to hear about the engine problem. give me the phone number and I'll call and complain too! What the heck? a redesign instead of a recall?

Hope you can get it fixed soon and salvage what's left of the summer.

Randy

Thanks Randy, the number is 405-743-6566. I'm going to call first thing tomorrow morning. I'll let you know what they say... I know it's a bunch of legal crap to say redesign instead of recall... I'm sure hoping I can get back on the water sooner than later!

Did both of mine this year too - I assume your trying to get just the housing and transfer the pumps, etc from your existing unit - they were on backorder when my port one went so I ordered it and a "loaded" one (new pumps, filter housing, etc) that was not on backorder - the loaded one came in quick and got me back up and running - the housing followed shortly and I used the pumps, etc from the one I already had off to put it back together and swap the starbord side quick - I now have the removed starboard unit for spare parts - total cost $1400 in parts - also you do not need the hose kit they try to sell you - just crack the fittings out of the old hose and slip them on the new fittings - big time saver
