Ok Folks, A- 4 week roll call, is in order..........Who all will be coming on the June 22-26 trip to Bimini??? I'm in!!!!:smt038

We're going! It will be my wife, son, his wife and her brother. 5 of us. Can't wait!

:thumbsup:Great!!! Looking forward to the trip, it will be my wife, best friend and his wife. Can't wait, see you at the captains meeting!! Lance

Lance, looking forward to it!

Anyone else going? I thought we had 4-5 of us going.

It looks like the Odyssey will be going. We will have 10 on our boat (not all staying on the boat of course). 3 other boats that I know of will be coming too. The resort is sold out of slips and rooms. There are 2 different groups at the resort that weekend so be prepared for a big party!

:smt115See Randys post below, one guy had to cancel (Floridaduramax) had plans change. Randy and Larry, I hope seas are pretty flat, otherwise I'll have to tuck my little 280 right behind you guys for the smooth ride!! LOL

:grin:Alright you veteran Bimini guys......Whats on the agenda for our up coming trip??? Just 3 weeks out, can't wait!!!

I like your enthusiasm! I was wondering the same thing myself (agenda for activities). Our group always has a few things we like to do when in Bimini.....

snorkeling on the Sapona
Honeymoon Harbor
Atlantis Road
Our secret spot
certain pubs and food joints

What kind of things does your family like to do?

Randy

:smt038I'm putting you in charge Randy!!! I like all the above that you mentioned!!!!!

Looking forward to the trip too Randy.. My son Adam will be flying down from Boston to join me and possibly a friend or two as well.. I stopped by the Bahamas tourism office late last week to drop off my check since I forgot to mail it and saw Carlton and Karen.. they have about 20 boats for the trip we are all on, so it should be a lot of old and new friends to meet. Always love going to Sapona and Honeymoon Harbor, and definitely some fresh Bimini bread and conch salad are in store too!! Just being all together will be great!!!

Nice to hear that Adam will be joining you. Now that there is a good group of people coming, the only thing left is the weather! let's hope for calm winds and flat seas.

I'm on the July 27 trip now:( you will have to take some more time off and show us what you learned!!! I know were pushing our luck with the weather that late but heck, look at the wind and seas now:huh: I'm going no matter what....unless hurricane Donnie is coming and then I'm heading to North Dakota:wow::wow:

Barry, I also have a couple coming w/us that are flying in from Charlotte, and WOW 20 boats??? Looking forward to meeting everyone and having a ball!!! What time is the capts. meeting wednesday???

:huh:Hey, Any of you local Ft. Lauderdale guys know where the best launch ramp is nearest to Bahia Mar Marina??? Thanks in advance!!

Alright, which one of you guy's are leading our group, Larry, Barry, Randy??????

I'll be departing from the Boca Raton inlet near my house in Delray. The group is leaving from Port Everglades, right? What time is the group leaving?

I haven't heard the departure time yet, heck, I haven't got any info on capts meeting either..................

Captains meeting is Wednesday night... Usually around 6 or 7, but they will let you know. We usually do a radio check around 6am and head out by 6:30 and meet up at the marker at Port Everglades.. They will decide who the lead boat is and who the last boat is, based on size and speed. Usually they will pair everyone up with boats that go similar speeds. Ray (White Pearl) and I head out together as we have these past 3 years; as we have similar boats and speeds. A lot will be figured out at the meeting.

Let's hope the seas lay flat and the winds die down.. For the next week it's supposed to still be pretty snotty out there. The first fling was this weekend.. It will be interesting to see how the trip over and back was.

I spoke with a fellow CSR member yesterday that went to Bimini over Memorial Day weekend.. They stayed at Bimini Sands- Randy have you ever stayed there? He said really nice floating docks, fuel docks too ($6.20/gallon :-(, and no wake... He said the boats at Big Game were getting bumped around a lot on the wooden docks and pilings and the tide swings were pretty big... The ferry has a regular schedule heading over and back too....

I got spoiled last year going to Bimini Bay; between their floating docks and the 2 great pool and bar areas...and no wake!!

Should be interesting this year!!

Hi Barry - we've stayed at B Sands before. Very protected with very little current and very little wake from other boats. The resort is very nice with pool, restaurant, store, fuel and a beach. Nothing wrong with Sands. I don't know about the fuel cost in Bimini, it was $5.30 in Lucaya 2 weekends ago. Explorer Charts has B Sands diesel listed at $5.72. Fuel here has been coming down lately, hopefully it will do the same in the islands. Big Game can get bumpy at times when the boats going to Bimini Bay don't slow down when they go by the marina. This is a problem that the staff at Big Game is aware of and are trying to do something about. It isn't that bad.

For those who have not been to Big Game before, there is a current in the marina. On 6/22, low tide will be at 7:34 AM, high tide will be at 1:44 PM. That will put the group in mid incoming tide.

I'm not a local but with BarryG's help we figured a lot of stuff out on our first go.

Launch your boat at Harbortown Marina and idle over to Bahia Mar. They will watch your truck and trailer for $8/night. Make sure you retrieve your boat at mid to high tide or you may not get out at their landings.

Wish I could go with you guys. My Bimini Sands trip report from Memorial Day is coming soon.:smt038
