Bimini Trip 2013

I have updated the Guide to include more information regarding checking into the US. Also please note that the procedure for checking in with a registered Float Plan number is as easy as it gets. Just call and give them the float plan number, they do the rest

Did a good shake down cruise today, no defects noted, ready for Bimini, 33 day's and counting

Yes I did see it Randy, we just went local chain o lakes for a few hrs, and thx too.

well........... I've completed the standard annual maintenance items such as oil/filter change, racor filter change, impeller change, transmission fluid change and a engine room check. I noticed that the starboard engine voltage gauge was kinda low which was surprising since in replaced the batteries 7 months ago. I checked the alternator and sure enough, it was bad. I just this week installed a re-man alternator and belts and that did the trick. Then I noticed some dripping of coolant fluid from the aftercooler feed hose. It turned out to be a bad section of heater hose so I had to remove the aftercooler and replace all the heater hose in the starboard engine. All that work is now done, I'll be taking her out in the next few days for a run and check all hoses, fluid levels and connections. I have a few other non-engine room things to do but my list is growing smaller every day.

how about you? is your boat all ready?

One more coat of wax in the next 2 weeks and I'm ready, already fueled up too. Gotta get through Leesburg Bikefest first next weekend!!

about the same as last year... so wish I could go... but will head there in July when my son can come down from Boston... Been a very stressful week with him up there, and at the Marathon on Boylston street, just a block from the explosions... very scary!

How much gas do you use making the crossing and what speed? If this weather pattern dont break, you guys could be in for a rough ride :(

Answer....Plenty... LOL , when I crossed in 2011, prob 60-70 gallons but it was 3-4 seas and 2-3 sec separation, it wasn't fun, but I'll do it again.

We went out to the end of the jettys at Ponce this weekend and turned around. It was ROUGH! The wave runner guys were getting some serious air!

It's been very breezy here in Stuart too. Haven't seen anything under 2'ers yet, although that's only on the weekends when we are it. They may be laying flatter during the week.

During this time of year the Daytona area has always been rougher compared to S. FL. Not by much but by a little anyway. Seas are 3-4, maybe some 5's mixed in but mostly are spread apart, just rollers. When the wind picks up from the NE or East they tend to churn up a little but as long as it is not incredibly windy it is still doable. But then again, I guess it depends on how comfortable you are with seas. For instance, outgoing tide, incoming wind we typically see 6-8 seas at the intlet but once through that it is calmer. But that first step outside the inlet is always interesting with water coming over the radar arch. :)
