Baltimore

Mayor is way over her head.

Unfortunately there is a complete lack of responsible leadership at the top level of government in Baltimore. No reasonable leader would tell law enforcement to allow criminal behavior to commence with no reaction from the police, and now Al Sharpton has stuck his nose in the fray, and essentially taken over as the head spokesman for the Baltimore mayors office as seen last night when he would not allow any questions to be answered when a reporter asked the Mayor ( not Sharpton) why the Police were ordered to stand down. The Mayor is the top official, and needs to be front and center to give the answers to the questions everyone is asking. Until that happens I think we will continue to see the situation decay further. It's Disgusting to watch. Trash your own community, and burn, loot and destroy businesses that support your community and provide jobs, and then bi*ch when your community decays and businesses leave or close down. "Genius"

To further stir the pot and with RayRay's attempt at enforcing political correctness aside, if you behave like wild animals and riot, you should expect Johnny Law to smack you down hard. This isn't a race issue, it's a behavior issue.

I made no attempt at enforcing political correctness. Rather, I try to encourage people to look at things/issues from all sides before drawing conclusions.....No one knows the facts of this matter, but many have already made up their minds as to what happened based on personal predispositions. Regardless, I'm all for justice, equal justice, so if everyone can agree on that and everyone who behaves in similar fashion should be spoken of and treated the same, regardless of race, let's have at it: http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2014/11/white-people-rioting-for-no-reason.html.

I would assume all the previous threats, labeling and name calling rhetoric in this thread still applies.

First let me say this, one of the past posts stated that I recommended turning a fire hose to the protesters. If ANY one is threating my life as I fight a fire that you or anyone else started, I am going to protect myself and the lives of my crew, and if water is all I have to do that then that's what I will use! It's nonleathal but it will put a hurting on you! Second the kid that stuck his knife into that 2 3/4 line, if that line had blown in his face he would be alive but he would NEVER do something so stupid again!

I can only speak for myself but "UNEQUIVOCALLY YES" the citizenry in the link that you sent are obviously breaking the law and should be held to account. Destroying your neighborhood is both criminal and stupid, destroying public property and harming others is criminal. The same way an egregious grievance does not give one carte blanche to break the law, a celebration does not suspend the laws of the land or give you the right to destroy property or harm others either.

I'm surprised to realize that you would think that we would see the situations that you linked as different, also surprised you did not point out that the major media outlets didn't give these riots equal billing .......................

Also the only predisposition I have is that in a 21st century civilization the citizenry should abide by the laws of the land.

PS I cant believe Canada got dragged into this discussion, lol

Some of us are in agreement then. Like I said, my issue was/is the way in which like behavior by different groups/peoples is seen and spoken of by both the public and especially the media.

It's most troubing when folks so emotionally respond to what they're told in a slanted and biased way, and how quickly they seem to do that........that's the problem.

I kind of like the high powered hose idea. It usually works great on removing the stains on my boat. Why not try it on some stains of society?

Hmmmm, the term "Rush to Judgement" comes to mind.

The report on the death investigation isn't done yet and criminal charges are already filed?

Something doesn't pass the sniff test here.

Not to mention that an Autopsy report seems to have matched the head wound to a protruding bolt in the back of the paddy wagon, and that the arrest video shows no instance of police damaging head or spinal cord. Rush to Judgment indeed. Not sure this city prosecutor has any kind of case here. If the proof exposes wrongdoing by the cops, then by all means, send them up the river. But, that might be a hard case to make in this circumstance.

+1

The witch hunt is on.

I don't have enough facts to render a judgement, but the rush to indict is proof positive of political motivations and not justice.

The authorities could take a lesson from the Vancouver riot. The police found every cell phone and other video/ photo they could and used them to charge people long after the riot ended, they were charging so many that people began turning themselves in from fear of being arrested in public or at work.
Process must be followed, too many innocent people are paying a price for things they didn't do.
I sat in a cop car and listened to dispatch list off a long list of charges under ny name once, I have never been charged with anything. Mistakes happen and peoples lives are at stake. Facts need to be checked, double checked and checked again before punishment is imposed.

Unfortunately for me, it appears that I no longer live in a country that has the stomach or the constitution for the tough jobs and NO I'm not moving, so there!!!!! I'm gonna stay and do what I can to restore her to her glory.................... we know what has to be done, we know what to do and we are better prepared than most .............. we are simply stymied by the current leadership and a populace who believes that personal responsibility only exists for the few that work hard and try to do the right thing ...................

This weekend was beautiful ...................... high of 77^....................... too bad the lake is still a little too low to launch my baby!!!

We all know they did it to calm the crowd. The corrupt mayor and her cabinet just did what they had to to please their constituency. I smell a skunk, and the former mayor turned governer let it go.

Bad cops, I've met a few. Doesn't mean you can make it worse by rioting. Shows the character of the law breakers. Seems the mayor has hired all sharpton for her spokesman, she should grow a pair and speak for herself.

I used to go to Baltimore, now I feel bad for my friends and family who live there, not like I didn't tell them so.

When will people be accountable for their behavior. I work hard for what I have and I wish everyone would instead of blaming and taking.

There aren't many opportunities in the inner city but it doesn't excuse criminal behavior. I feel bad for the law abiding poor, who go to church and support their brothers and sisters.

I blame the money behind both parties pulling the strings, especially the Hippocrates dems who are the party of slavery and eletisim.

Let's blame someone else right, isn't that what all that money is paying for.

I love Baltimore, ever since my early childhood. It all makes me sick.

Cops guilty? Not so sure, its like the military and the top always gets away clean while they crucify the players. What did O'Mally do to toughen up the police. Its all a big lie and we are falling for their evil trickery.

I have done some volunteer work in the inner city and its not a bunch of savages, its mostly hard working individuals drowned out by lazy no good murderers and rapists who keep the neighborhood in fear. Does that make everyone complicit?

Why does the media dictate our opinions? The news used to be news, now its propaganda for the guys who bought the news. Meanwhile it is received as gospel by the people who want to believe it since it lines up with their ideology so nicely.

I want accountability not this twisted media blitz.

If politicians really cared they would fix the inequity. They seem to say its better while aggressively making it worse. Then they throw a couple entitlement bones and have their way while saying they are helping. I say BS!

Good post Blaster, what we see on the surface is a dead Freddy and rioting....underneath is layer upon layer of contributing factors and you've touched on some of them.

Not sure how you can blame "both parties" for the mess that is Baltimore. The Dems have been solidly in control at all levels for 50+ years.
