Atlantic City Rendezvous 2010

I can't remember Dolce Vita Mike's daughter's name....I'll get that tomorrow....actually, you might meet her tomorrow afternoon yourself.

Thank you. Lynn's name tag changed. Oops. Sorry about that. Sooner the better on Mike's daughter's name, otherwise she'll be left out. While I can edit the list on the Macbook that I'll have with me tomorrow afternoon. I am not lugging a 100 pound Xerox Phaser laser printer with me. It was bad enough putting it in it's place in my office at home. It's going to stay in its corner until it dies or I do, which ever comes first.

We will see you all at 0930 same place as last year... Depending on the weather Friday we may go out BI... I like the boring ocean, more than the narrow shallow channel south of BI....

Frank C, I believe we have all but Ryllie's name tags from last year... I have you repair manual on the boat...

If Bobby B needs a place to sleep, we've got a vacant room. Cigars and mudslides flowing freely.

Sea Gull will be leaving Beach Haven Yacht Club Marina at about 1000 and heading out via LEI. Anyone wishing to lead me out or follow my mud wake across the bar is welcome to join me. We will be monitoring channel 16 and 72.

Sea Gull, if you wait for another hour you can join our convoy. What's the area of your concern to be at the high tide only? Usually there's plenty of water in that area, except may be in the marina you're staying.

I would be happy to traval with the group. Just tell me where and when to meet you.

I'm thinking that I might be able to snuggle up behind the back of your boat, shut my engines off and ride your wake down to AC.

Just tune to chanel #72 and you'll be able to track us down easily. I think "One Sweet Day" will be the lead boat, so it might be better to call him for some details. Otherwise, feel free to call any of us in the convoy (refer to the page #1 for boat names). If you need more solid communication I can PM you my cell.

Is anyone else departing via LEI or are you all coming via Barnegat? To meet up with the boats on the outside, I will plan to leave the dock around 10 and be out where the LE sea buoy is supposed to be by 1015 to 1030. I'll see you all on ch 72.

Leaving CT in a few minutes for the 4 hour car ride to LBI. Can't wait to get back to my boat.

Traveling south on the ICW be 'VERY CAREFUL'L at ICW Markers...

116-118...especially 117A
128-132...especially 130A
152-164...I'd suggest off plane, man the fly swatters and tighten your sphincter

Sea Gull, I would advise you to wait for the convoy at the marina you're in. We'll be passing there at idle due to no-wake zone and you'll be able to blend in easily. As Dom said, there are few trouble spots you need to watch out. Dom knows this area well, so it's safer for you just to follow him.

Guys, we need to get this straight. Dom is leading the ocean goers out Barnegat Inlet. Me, Jon and Rudy are confirmed to be heading down along LBI and out LEI. Anyone willing to join us in the battle against no-wakes and greenheads is certainly welcome. Jeff, we can meet you at BHYCM and head out together if you don't mind a later start than 10am. It is my understanding that NO ONE is taking the inside route from LEI to AC due to the reported shoaling within the channel as well as unfavorable tides and winds. I would only brave that route if the weather was inclement enough, which it will NOT be. We will chat it up on 72. We have a new boat joining us this year as well. Not sure if he's going to hang with the LBI group or go out BI. His name is Robert and he's running a 410DA oil burner out of Forked River, which means he's going to run out of patience behind me!

Dom,

I'm coming up through the ICW from the Great Bay and I'll be passing marker 130a. I see from the map software that there is some shoaling there. Is it best to stay to the outside of 130a and 132 and then you can resume traveling between markers afterwards?

Doug

Ron,

Thanks for clarification. If majority of boats going out of BI I'll be in that group. It's much easier for me to cruise at 24-26mph vs. 18-19mph.

In this case Jeff will need to hook up with your group, if he decides to wait in the marina. Otherwise, I see why he was planning to meet the group out of the inlet.

Alex if you prefer the LBI tour, feel free to go that route and run ahead of us. Even at your speed we'd be at most about 15-20 min behind you. I'm used to being left in the salt spray. Maybe I should hook up with Paul ;-)

The only tricky marker that Dom mentioned above that we will have to encounter is 117. The other ones are south of the inlet on the inside so we won't be dealing with them. The shoaling at 117 is startling b/c in the channel you've got 30+ feet of water. A few feet outside you've got sandbars at low tide.

Not sure if anyone is going inside all the way... But my favorite spot to run aground is new "Tow" island... The markers are deceptive, especiallly headin North...

I think I will be running with Alex and Dom, and may stop for a swim by AC with Alex, and catch the LBI guys as you go by...

I heard reports of sharks out there. Don't soak your shorts in meat.
