Any virus warnings?

Thanks Jim. You have got to love computers (Grin).

I'm not clicking that link! :wow:

I guess what I need to know is what the ad says. Often they have a link at the bottom that says the site its going to. Or maybe it is just obvious from looking at the ad. For example if its a Best Buy ad, just tell me its a Best Buy ad, or it says bestbuy.com at the bottom of it. Then I can filter them out.

I am going to work on removing the ads for Subscribers. I still need to pay our Site Sponsors homage so maybe I will put a static ad in place to remind you guys to check out our sponsors once in a while. The majority of this site is paid for by them so its important they stay happy. However, 98% of the traffic through here is unregistered people and registered people that don't donate to the site, so they will see the ads. A work in progress....

Thanks Jim. Sounds like you are going to have your hans full!!
BTW, I clicked on that link above before I read your post below it. I didn't get any warning and this is what the ad said:

click

I don't know if it was a joke or not.

No joke, it was the add displayed when the message popped up. MM

Hey Jim,
I just got the warning again from avast when I logged on. I come right to the forum page and there were no ads anywhere. Here is the warning I got:

Jim,

I just got the same attack from 91.220.35.23

I am still looking into this but I can assure you, the actual attack is coming from another site, be it through the Google ads, or someone's signature who is using remote image hosting (and I think that would be more likely than through Google, but Google is a possibility too). This includes imageshack, photobucket, etc.

It would help if you posted these issues including the URL of the page you are viewing when you receive the message, the message itself as reported from your antivirus in full, and any other info that can help me track where the problem is originating from. This occurs all over the web, with forums, wordpress blogs, facebook, etc. You should always run a antivirus and really you should never use Internet Explorer.

Firefox and Google Chrome are most likely your safest browsers. With firefox, there are a few add-ons that will further protect you. Those being NoScript and I think the other is called noFlash.

A side note. You may have noticed since the upgrade that the box you type your messages in looks different. The upgrade included a new editor that has a nice feature for those that type alot of text (if you ever accidentally left the page before posting only to go back and see you lost the text you typed.) As you type now, you text is autosaved. If you leave the page by accident, you can return and click the Restore Auto-Saved Content to retrieve what you had typed. BUT, if you go elsewhere and start a new post, you CAN NOT retrieve your previous auto-saved text, if that makes sense.

If you experience any more attacks, please report them here with all the information mentioned above. Thank you.

Additionally, clear your browser cache as it may retain old tmp files that are infected and causing the Antivirus triggers.

Mark, maybe this will help?

I just got this message from Norton when I logged on to the home page of CSR; a recent attempt to attack your computer was blocked, iebrowsingsave.ru 91.220.35.23.80. What ever that means, just thought I'd mention it.

I just received the same warning as Alex at home and earlier at my office.

I hate to say this !!. But most of you people on here are .... Compu-tards.

I have NO problems with this site like you guys do . :smt024.

Jim & Mark, You can't help the hopeless. . . :smt043

I have made all the changes I possibly could to limit these notices, but truthfully, for those that use IE, you may likely still receive them occationally. Because the site pulls information from outside sources (Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Photobucket and all those other image hosting sites), all we can do is make sure the source of our files and server are clean, which they are. When you browse the internet, you should be running a antivirus program and a firewall, period.

Some of you that run IE, might I suggest you try Firefox, Chrome, or one browser I just started using recently that's actually pretty nice, Maxthon. Coupled with Norton, Avast, or another AV program, you won't have anything to worry about. You may also want to download CCleaner as well which is effective for cleaning your computer and fixing any registry errors you may have.

Thanks for your patience while we addressed these issues. Safe surfing...

Firefox with the add-ons and you're safe. :smt024. Am I right Mark ??. :smt001
