Corsa Exhaust
I finally decided to add Captain's Call Corsa Exhaust to my 220. I have a 350Mag and am hoping the sound matches what I've heard online and on the newer Sea Ray's factory installs. I know its not a big block (wow what a sound that makes), but I still love the sound of a good v8.

I am having the dealer handle the whole deal from ordering to installation to testing. There was no way I was going to be the one behind the drill while making the entry points for the thru hull exhaust pipes. :)

Anyone have a 350mag/Corsa combo with an online movie/sound clip they would like to share?

I'll update once its been installed. Should be in about 2 weeks.

I am originally from Lexington, I used to live off of Tates Creek road!!! I don't have a 350 Mag, I have a 496 mag and man I'm telling you it sounds great. I would not want open headers all the time but to be able to open it up every once in a while is awesome.

A couple of weeks ago we had a nice 70 deg day so the Admiral and I took our new to us boat out for the first time. WOW what an awesome boat. But back to my point, we pulled up to the dock and it was surrounded by 4 boats tied up and getting ready, waiting on their drivers, loading ice chests or whatever. I waited about 5 minutes, floating 20-30 foot away from the dock, well it seemed to me like no one was going anywhere in a hurry. So I wait and wait, well I reach down and throw the switch to open up the exhaust, everyone on the boats look up like whoa.:wow: Within 2 minutes the dock was completely clear, I was thinking yeah, that helped to get noticed.
I waved thank you and silenced the pipes. It was a guy thing I think.

That is amazing! My backyard sits on Tates Creek road, out past Man O' War. Its a small world. :)

We saw a 250 Select EX last year at Lexington's Aquapalooza out at Herrington Lake. It had a 496 Mag with Corsa, and wow, what a sound. The entire marina rumbled. They would randomly crank the engine every 20-30 minutes just to impress the guests.

Do you trailer your 270 or do you have a slip?

I just bought it a few months ago so I haven't had a chance to do much yet.

In years past with my 220 SD I would slip it. The weekend after I bought this one I ran down to see what was available for slips and I couldn't resist renting a slip just feet away from the restaurant and store. So I went ahead and rented it at Lake Mead marina.

I usually slip my boat from late March early April - September. Should be getting those 80 deg days in the next couple of weeks.:smt038

The "guests" may have been impressed, but what about all the other people at the marina??:smt013

I have to admit cranking it up every 20-30 minutes to just hear it is a little out there. But that is the beauty of the Corsa, you can turn it on ( Loud ) or off ( silent ).

On a Saturday morning heading out on the lake, if you can't get into hearing a big block idle out of the marina, well enough said.

Like everything common sense should rule. Before 8 am or after 8 pm I would run silent. But if it's 10 am on a Saturday morning I might just idle out with open exhaust.

I agree with Bridog! If you come into my marina or cove and rev the motor with the corsa open I might have to look into this thread.

Personally I hate it when the loud boats go tearing up the river! I go out in the boat to relax and enjoy the enviroment. Loud boats are not relaxing!

Great to be back First Born! Its been a long winter with a lot of work to be done at the office. I just haven't had the time to hit the forums for a few months, but with boating season coming back on us, I figured I had to get back into the swing of things.

I agree that thru hull boat exhaust can be annoying under certain circumstances, but in just as many I would say that there are benefits as well. To each his own. Thats why I am getting Captains Call so I can decide for myself on when its appropriate... and maybe even a few times when it isn't... :)

I didn't even think of that. It will sound *awesome* in those canyons. :)

Seriously though, if I am in one of those coves by myself, you could probably bet I will have my exhaust open and I'll maybe even give it a few extra revs. But if the cove was full of people I would of course be closing the exhaust well before idling my way into the crowd.

A lot of us have very different boats, very different tastes, and very different views on relaxation. A relaxing day for me is jumping some wake on my jet ski behind my loud boat full of my 4 loud kids. For us thats just another day at the lake. That is what makes boating so pleasurable, is there are just a bunch of cool people out there making their own good times.

Hmm, I just might have a sound clip of mine laying around somewhere. Ill have to look.

I took some vid of it this weekend. After I grab a firewire cable from the store I'll encode the clip and put it somewhere for all to see. The corsa is a unique sound and very throaty with a lot of low frequency sound. It sounds incredible on a 350 mag, and even more so on a 496 mag big block.

Here are some pics from this past weekend that show the corsa installed. I will get some closeup ones with it on the trailer this weekend.

The lakes around here have VERY strict noise ordinances, being that there are homes on the lakes up and down, and nature preserves and town parks everywhere else.

I have heard of several boaters being ticketed and asked to leave the lake, but I dont think they had a "captains call" exhaust.

Personally, I dont like it. It's kind of annoying to hear an engine blasting. But I wouldnt tell anyone else not to have one if they want to garner attention to themselves for whatever "compensating" macho reasons.

hehe...sorry, just a wise arse today. I rarely drink coffee in the afternoon, now I know why. Wheeeeeeeeee!

I don't need to compensate with anything, nor to anyone. I have a satisfied wife with 4 kids, whats left to say? My boat, my ski, my other toys, are bought and mod'ed for my entertainment, not for anyone else. What other people thought of my exhaust played zero part in my decision making process. In fact, the only negative remarks and comments I've received regarding my exhaust has been on CSR (a *boating* forum). Retarded.

Luckily our lakes around here aren't tight asses. Just the crowd that the Cumberland Poker Run draws shows that I'm not the only one interested in hearing the great sound of a boat engine.

PS: Get yourself another cup of coffee!

Cool pics, waiting to hear/see the video.

 I was joking around in my last couple of sentences.

However, most people arent going to tell you it annoys them to your face. I would, but most people wouldnt, thus why the internet allows for discord more so than real life.
